    i think the beauty in the $500 ls junkyard motors is just to run them as they are and maybe you will make it through a season running it at 800whp. if it blows no big deal. and its also nice to not worry about a bad tune or malfunction blowing up your $5000+ forged motor.

    if you tear it down and put a bunch of labor into it, new gaskets, bearings, arp bolts, etc then just forge it already. forged components are very reasonably priced for ls.

    besides how does anyone really know if these guys didn't sneak in some forged components into their "stockish" motors. its not like they are racing in a competitive body that tears down and inspects their motors.

    Is running a 10.0 fast? Need more criteria for your ?
    I know of a car in Texas that's gone 8.90's, 9.20-9.40 regularly on stock bottom and cam-boosted though.

    He does. That car has recently dipped into the 5's (will have to ask for exact ET) at 122 or so. He was shoving 28 lbs down the stock 5.3. That is the guy that tuned my car.
