    Any ATV mechanics on here?

    Specifically Honda.

my trx 450er has been sitting for a while, and needs a little love. It had a high rpm miss when i put it away, and was getting REALLY tough to start. The valves have been checked, and re- shimmed to spec, still no luck.

I'm looking for some advice, or someone to work on it.

A coworker of mine has a fairly new one that had the same type issues. Eventually had to pull the head off and do a valve job.

    I'd do a compression and leakdown test if it's a 4 stroke.

Otherwise look at plug, coil, charging system.

Plug is new, coil has been swapped, we've tried different ignition boxes as well.

I just need to have someone come over with a case of beer and go to town on it.

The base gasket does leak a little, which almost makes me think that it could be pushing past the rings, and causing excessive crank case pressure.

I haven't done a leak down test. good call.
