Why in the hell would a good welder need a plug to fill a couple small holes?
your going to need a plug or aluminum plate to cover that gap before welding. I would think $20 would be a great price for you if you get the plug/plate ready beforehand. $40 would even be fair.
$10 is perhaps an insult for any skilled welder. if they want to charge you $10 as a buddy thats fine but you should initially offer more. $$ for time, equipment and liability if they crack or warp your piece.

1 pass instead of 4 maybe?

its kind of borderline but I would want that hole plugged personally if i welded it . less chance for blow out while welding and I would think it would be stronger than basing your plug off all filler rod. but i'd be curious as to what a professional would think about that
Tape that thing and put a pipe plug in it
LOL, it had teflon tape and plugs before. It worked but it looked ridiculous. Doing a wire tuck and cleaning up the engine bay, shit was not flattering. ;-)
Trevor/Mike... now that you've seen it, let me know if you're still up for it. I'll give you a call/text tomorrow if there's no response/pm on here. I appreciate it, either way...
Nickel and jb weld. solved
You can fill that gap no problem with Filler....problem is it's cast aluminum, so the weld WILL be very porous. If I do it i'll probably be making a cap and welding it.
I can probably do it today Keith. Just txt me or something.
