pulling engine in 97 grand am and rebuild

Well doesnt seem to be much interest in a grand am that doesnt run so I'm just going to pull the engine. Has anyone done one in this car before or something similar?

I have never pulled an engine from a FWD car and not sure the best way to tackle it. Should I pull just engine and leaves trans, pull all together, disassemble the engine as much as possible and pull it or any ideas?

Also anybody ever rebuild a 3.1L ? Not the first engine I willhave rebuilt but anything smaller then a v-8 is like spanish to me, I have never dealt with it, so other then getting a manual for the specs of the engine, any ideas?

Or maybe somebody happens to have a running 3.1L?
