The bottome of that glass is about 4" in Diameter and when he was completely sprawled(sp?) out he came VERY close to touching all the sides... his front left and rear right where touching the side when he was all out and such....

From google'ing it its more than likely a common house spider, or a funnel web spider. Not really dangerous, unless its a sydney funnel web. Just capture it and release it far away from the house. Or exterminate it.

I let it go at the park...

I don't kill "creatures" that just happen to wonder into a place they "shouldn't be". They where here WAY before us, what business do we have killing them after taking the environment. like Pilgrims and Indians...

pics dont work for me either. But I'd like to see this spider. Last year at my old apartment before I had the exterminator out, we though their was a mouse in the corner. Turned out to be a giant spider. After you kill them they tend to shrivel up so we really dont know what kind it was.

oh, I hate spiders btw...I'd rather mice and snakes than spiders.

Looks to be in the Wolf-Spider breed. They don't have a growth limit, so if fed well the continue to grow untill they die. They can get pretty damn big but usually die before getting abnormally big. Every once in awhile you find one that is just HUGE.

I never kill spiders, they kill bugs that I hate and don't want around. They are good to me, and i'm good to them :)

wow. I hate spiders, and am not as kind to them as you. I'm pretty sure i would have gotten a propane torch for one that big

Lol @ all of you getting butt hurt at a slight suggestion of extermination. Its always an option to some people that have phobias against that shit. But you gotta keep in mind, I don't think you'd want a small nest of those spiders potentially being somewhere in the house where they eventually keep popping up everywhere. Its an option, not always the answer.
