You heard it the first on record, complete failure, rods going through the block.... And a repuable tuner tuned the car, scott beer... 8 rods destroyed. Why did it do it? Well powered metal rods. And wanted to show the crowd. The car had 24psi and a 75 shot made close to 875rwhp. Steeda had a dyno day and the owner wanted to show up with S. Fl. baddest Shelby around. So he wanted to up the shot to 100 and try to make 900rwhp and it didn't work. He has driven his car 10teens @ 144 mph wit 21 psi and a 75 shot! That's w a 3.4l s/c btw so figure over 1000 crank hp on a stock mtr.

I heard condor blocks are used (prepped iron 5.4 truck blocks) and mahle rod and piston assemblies along w a steel prepped kellogg crank. Really the owner was advised against doing this by Beer, he tried it anyway. These rods seem better than the old lightning rod never the less (500hp duty). Very few stock engines hold 1000 hp. Evolution performance did it w this engine but they had turbos which doesn't draw massive power to turn under high boost. That new zr1 motor should also when someone rich decides to do it.

Some people are just dumb and get greedy and suffer the consequences. But hopefully at least that guy can have a chance and re-doing an entire forged engine that can withstand that abuse next time.
