well after quite some time without boost, a dsm, or awd, i finally got me hell of a freaking deal. i got a 2 for 1 deal. they are a 91 talon awd and a 92 laser awd. the talon snapped a timing belt ( no biggie) and the laser has no motor, ecu, tranny.has lowering springs and some other goodies you know the deal. the talon has apexi n1 full exhaust from turbo back. has boost and oil pressure gauges.smooved valve cover. poly motor mounts, really a beautiful car with exception of the front right of the bumper and missing the passenger fender. but thats easily obtainable. im just excited to get back into dsms again and awd at the same time. thanks again josh aka bowtiebuba. picture time!

Nice, i pm'd him about buying them but he never responded. I was just going to part out what was left of them and then crush them both if no one wanted the shells lol. So good thing its going to a good home. Best of luck what are the plans?

Luminatorz34
08-10-2008, 10:27 PM
well the talon will be fixed, and be a dd for me. a little while down the road ill end up getting the laser fixed for my soon to be brother in law. hes 15 now, so i thionk itd be a good project to get him into. being as his dad isnt that mechanically inclined i can help him with it, to where he might be able to respect a car. but who knows i might fix it and keep it for myself. i have a while to think about it

happy to see them out of joshes garage. i was secretly planning to push them out and burn them, they were crowding the caprice

well now the cobra is crowding the poor caprice haha

thats pretty cool. id just combine all the good parts and make one good car. Itd be neat to combine different body parts, as long as the laser tail lights are used :vom:
that wing on the laser is pretty uncommon, well the laser itself is. But its kinda neat.

Luminatorz34
08-11-2008, 01:01 PM
yeah colton, ill be ripping all the good shit that the laser has to offer still such as the rear poly motor mount, and the lowering srpings, and go ahead and toss them on the talon. i would combine body parts, but the talon is too clean to go and butcher it. i just really wanna find a fender and passenger headlight cover, to where it wont look soo damn helpless sitting in my back yard. and of course track down a 6 bolt head and new timing components and get this beotch running again. it will be a fun project for me. and keep me occupied, being as the fiancee would rather see me play with cars than goof off on the internet or xbox 360 all day. haha i have permission to do what i want to and with the cars. haha

08-11-2008, 03:08 PM
congrats on the deal man; sounds like you really earned them with all the driving you did.

personally; i would probably build the Laser up; if nothing else, just because you never seem to see them ever.

I think my 7bolt n/t head would work. It needs rebuilt as its been sitting for yeaaars. But you just swap your cams and good, no bent valves that I can remember. Then for the other car if you want to runners I have that other 7 bolt turbo block, Im gonna pull the oil pan someday and check for end play and let ya know if its in spec or not.

08-11-2008, 05:20 PM
well im tight on money now. i gotta go trucking for a few weeks again to get the money. cost me over 200 bucks in gas just to get these damn things. haha. but ill have to pull the head on the talon to make sure the pistons arent severly fucked up. from what i heard it was a relatively low speed timing belt snap. it happend around 3k rpms from what ive been told. so it should be too bad. but im not splitting the motor until i get home again, to prevent condensation and crap getting inside. although i wanna break it open to know what all ill need.

DustinsDuster
08-11-2008, 06:08 PM
if a piston is fucked, i'd sell you my old ones for next to nothing. let me know.

I have a lot of shit laying around to. Literally.

I have a bottom end, head, FMIC, pipes, intakes, etc. etc. etc.

DustinsDuster
08-12-2008, 04:07 PM
yeah, PHAT TSI ended up taking it and throwing away most of it if i remember right. i'll let you know if i have some extra stuff. i think i have a spare ECU and main relay sitting around.

Luminatorz34
08-12-2008, 07:15 PM
ok dustin. i was kinda curious bout the reverse glow gauge cluster you had. oh well. well today i ended up ripping the head off. found many surprises. head has been off recently as there is a newer head gasket, and a newer exhaust manifold gasket on it. someone took the back intake support off and just let it hang. this bracket holds the connectors for the knock sensor and broke the wires to it got the head off and saw most of the valves are fucked, no big surprise, but i saw the pistons, and im not real happy with the looks of them. you guys take a look and help me decide whether or not to shit can them, or if their still usable

probably fine, only way to know is to pull em, have em hot tanked and crack checked. Horn told me that as long as theirs no cracks, its just more clearance for higher rpm's. They didnt even seem considered about them being cracked really. I think most people ditch the intake mani brace, and the emissions lines etc. i have a couple extra good knock sensors, ones brand new actually.

Luminatorz34
08-12-2008, 07:38 PM
hmm, so i should be alright just to slap a head on and go? yeah im going to be in the process of pulling all the vacuum lines. none of my other dsms had them, and it is much easier to go thru the bay with out them, so buh bye haha. and the knock sensor broke on the engine harness. not the knock sensor itself

You know the price :)

Drifte
08-28-2008, 04:26 PM
well i guess I'll see you in a week or so. If Im not their I will have the head set out for ya. Did you decide you wanted to buy the intake manifold too? I dont think I have a cas, or a throttle body, except for the nt one that will work but requires different charge pipe.

Luminatorz34
08-30-2008, 04:55 PM
ill pass on the intake colton, as i have one...i was just seeing how complete of a head you had....but i have all the shit to swap from mine. so yeah ill see you in about a week

Luminatorz34
09-26-2008, 03:48 PM
well im pretty pissed now....i got all the parts to do a top end on it. got the top end all put together, and attempted timing...found out the balance shaft belt took a shit along with the oil pump seizing/locking up, thus causing the timing belt to rip apart...went from feeling good about this car...to not so good :(

Drifte
09-27-2008, 10:13 AM
you already got that head rebuilt, or is this another one? Sucks to hear, my car with nearly all new parts doesnt run right now either. My new battery has 7volts....

Luminatorz34
09-27-2008, 04:13 PM
i just took your head, put my turbo cams in it and botled her on...i was wayy excited. just to tear the timing cover off and see all this shit :(......i dont know if i want to rebuild this motor or just get another motor....anyone wanna chime in with a reasonable answer to this?

TbTalon94
09-28-2008, 08:07 PM
I've got a new battery for you COlton if you need it.

Drifte
09-29-2008, 02:47 PM
I just traded it in for a good one, but thanks.

Steve I'd just start tearin' into it. If you can find a running 6bolt to drop in that would work, I still have a good 7 bolt, and have talked to a guy that installs modified bearings to remove crank walk problems.

DustinsDuster
09-29-2008, 08:34 PM
Trevor- do you still have your 6bolt Steve could by?

TbTalon94
09-30-2008, 07:17 AM
I sure do. Still sitting on the engine stand in my garage. Mint condition. Good oil pump on it too ;)

DustinsDuster
09-30-2008, 03:59 PM
there you go Steve. you should pick that up for a few hundred bucks, throw it in your car and be driving within a week.

Drifte
09-30-2008, 04:21 PM
yep or theirs teh 7bolt option sitting in my garage :)

btw, i have a freshly resrufaced/decked 6bolt flywheel if you get yourself a 6bolt.

...have a 7bolt flywheel as well.

TbTalon94
10-01-2008, 07:24 AM
Yea I need to get rid of that block too. It's taking up way to much space.

Domestic Disturbance
10-02-2008, 12:29 AM
Josh (the guy you bought them from) has I believe a 6bolt shortblock that was just rebuilt sitting at his shop he might sell

Luminatorz34
10-02-2008, 01:00 AM
well i know trevor wants like 500 bucks just for his bottom end. then ill still have my used top end to put on....i would consider the 7boltcolton if the price is right and wont need too much to get going.....and im curious about the motor josh has also....im gonna be on the road for another 3 weks just to get the cash to get the talon running as ill actually need it here really soon

TbTalon94
10-02-2008, 07:11 AM
I'd sell that motor for cheaper. You just never offered me anything ;)

Offer me something and we can work something out Steve.

Drifte
10-02-2008, 09:12 AM
the 7bolt bottom end is ready to go. As most would say, its not a bad idea to have it decked before hand. But other than that its ready to go.

Luminatorz34
10-05-2008, 10:40 AM
well, i really dont know what to offer for these motors...im still half ass holding out on this other 91 talon tsi here in town. its just a fwd, but it has a motor thats supposedly good, a fender, front bumper and headlight cover. the car apparently runs but needs a ecu being as he said its running rich or something. ill just have to take my ecu with me and try it all out. we will see. but then again, itd be nice to not have to go thru buying yet another car tat will just sit till i sell it or what not

Drifte
10-06-2008, 09:03 PM

if you're interested in joshes engine just call him and ask about it. I'm not for sure that he's selling it, but as far as I know he has no plans for it, and freshly rebuilt from D&R so its good to go.

DustinsDuster
10-08-2008, 07:52 PM

where did you find those wheels? i want them!

Luminatorz34
01-01-2009, 08:29 PM
i got them from matt aka civicwanted..been talking to him about these for like 6 months...basically im free a weekend and he isnt..or hes free and weekend and i wasnt..finally just got pissed off enough that i just had it, and made enough time for me to drive there and get them from him...get this 75 dollars for the set of 4 or 3 1/2....these used to be trents wheels...he had them on a white/silver 2g talon...it got hit, or he hit something, and broke a rim. then the car got sold to bryan..he sold the rims to this matt kid..then he had them for a while and dumped them on me...their pittted to all hell on the lip...cheap clear coat on them...so theyll be sand blasted when i get the matching wheel to replace the broken one and powder them all the same silver that they are now..also, im just waiting for my timing tensioner to show up in the mail, then i can do my motor swaps. and see what this thing will do...after only sitting almost 6 months :(

01-11-2009, 09:53 AM
update...yesterday. got the car towed to my parents house (4 car garage). tore everything down, got junk motor pulled along with transmission...swapped everything over to trevors old bottom end. put the head on timed trevors motor. forgot my clutch allignment tool, so will be taking that with me today to allign clutch. put tranny back on, put motor tranny back in, and should be running in a few hours or so today is my plan...no picutres cuz i was in the fucking zone yesterday. hopefully i can get a few snapped today for ya...also, i had to switch oil pans over cuz trevor had his engine set up for stainless line oil return and an fittings. i dont have this stuff so i had to switch to my oil pan to use the stock oil return for the turbo...found out if i didnt have a locked up oil pump and had to switch motors, id be switching motors very soon anyways...there were a ton of huge chunks of metal and tons of shavings in the pan. so im kinda glad just to get it done and over with now

01-18-2009, 07:47 PM
got everything tidied up. clutch bled out, head re torqued. coolant put in, and had a cracked hose from my water pipe going to my oil cooler...pissing coolant everywhere..got a new line put on and it doesnt drip a drop of any fluids...yay...took her out for a drive and it was awesome. runs awesome, drives awesome...just wish i had more boost. im just on the wastegate right now tuill i get a boost controller for it, so i have a whopping 10 psi of boost...look out haha. thanks to everyone that has sold me parts for this, and offered their knowledge with this. i really appreciate it guys
