Couple of weeks ago I finished up enough to fire it up and drive it a bit. I was going to wait longer but with hospital bills coming of $$$$ well here's the video I made of a lil tire burning. 428cj w trw forged pistons, old street dominator to lighten it up, 3310 holley, new rebuilt c6 w 11" converter. Basically has the optional hyd cam.

Got to take/cut off the lakewood traction bars, put on the traction master shelby type bars. Replace the rear spring shackles and bushings also.

The tires are vintage 1978. I did find out the 03 cobra wheels fit w m/t 275/40/17 dr radials w a lil hammer.

I was very surprised it smoked the tires that easy. A caveman could do it. I was trying to get a pic of interior as it is very good, but reflection didn't allow it. I was running low on gas quickly so it was a crappy video but you get the idea. 375 400 fwhp est. I have assembled the engine several times w plastigauge and feeler gauges, dial indicator. Not exactly hi tech rebuild here. Biggest thing is forged pistons and the s/s valves. .005 clearance on the pistons after the hone. Best I could do w/o a rebore. It is already max on bore size at 4.16" w 3.98 stroke. I plan to get Adam up here later and we will put on the fpa tri y hdrs. Pain in the ass job like most mustangs. :banghead: Then new paint if I can afford it, I miss my lil bro, the bodyman.
A pic for Dustin on the quaint rocker arms as I have. And Dustin I expect it to run maybe mid 13's if I am lucky. I ran hi 13's w the 4 speed and street tires w a solid 427 cam at kcir.

I checked the leaf springs and shackles, good thing I did. The rear shackles both sides were shot, the shackle bolts were almost pulled through the side plates. Put on new improved ones w the poly bushings. Next the traction masters. What are they? Like a ladder bar the gt 350 had.. They also work on braking function.

Get the big yellow traction bars with the rubber nub. You know you want them.

Zee, I had them actually, the lakewood pro model (painted black). They hit the back frame rails and were a pos. They worked, but crappy and sometimes brake hopped, rode hard, etc. I'm a kinder gentler guy now, don't need all race stuff for a restomod.

Thanks, I've had it almost forever, been fixed up several times. I do believe it may be only 69 in town w a 428.

Definitely a sweet ride! My uncle had a 68 with a 428 in it but sold it several years back. :(

That 68 would be the most rare then. Guy I got the 69 gt off of had 2 gt500's 68 69 and one 66 gt350. So he sold the 69 gt to fix up the others.
