Well I took a trip to Earlville and put the Cobalt on the track for the first time. I was kinda leary of running it when I saw the only other two cars there were running 9.8s, but the track people were friendly and made me feel comfortable. My first run I ran 14.8 at 101.23 and by the end of the day I ran a 14.14 @ 106.83 on street tires. The last 5 runs were between 14.14-14.22.

Not the speed or times than some of you have but it was fun none the less......

Oh i see here a stock one Motor trend ran a 14.4 at 99mph. Those have 18" wheels stock?
Oh I looked back saw you have the stage 2 kit from GM.
"The Stage 2 kit consists of new fuel injectors and the same reprogram with a smaller serpentine belt and pulley for the supercharger, producing a 40 bhp (30 kW ) improvement and 30 ft·lbf (40 Nm) of torque. Both stage 1 and 2 kits increase the engine redline to 7000 rpm.

pretty sweet oem upgrade I must say, stage 3 sounds like fun.

Muff you kill... http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/lightninbalt/lmao.gif

I know I'm slow just wanted to see what the car and I could do at the drag strip. I've never been and it was fun. Now I can say my car traps ~107mph and get ~28mpg.

Anyway, it was kinda hard to hook up my toy car. Spun quite a bit in first and a little in 2nd. Don't think street tires are made for the drag strip.

According to Motor Trend: Stock 2005 SS runs 14.4 @ 93.3 MPH.

The only modification is the GM stage 2 kit, 42# injectors, 77.9 mm pulley, and the GM Tune. GM claims 241hp and 218tq. I'd like to throw it on a dyno and verify, then retune it.

This is my best slip of the day

rt.............095
60'...........2.316
330..........6.342
1/8...........9.399
MPH..........80.75
1000.........11.993
1/4...........14.144
MPH..........106.83

Again, yes it's slow, the other two cars were running 9.8s and I don't think they were going all out, I'm not too good with models and I didn't bring my camera but one had "its playtime" on the side of its doors. Wanna say a challenger or charger late 60's early 70's maybe. the other a Chevelle same years. They were definatly scary, whenever they drove by me in the pit area my little car started shaking.......

edit: I see you Drifte found the answers before I typed them up....

60ft looks like a good bit of spinning, but I hear the Cobalt is more about handling and response than straight line anyway.

Would say those are pretty good times. I didn't even realize the Cobalt SS came with superchargers. You also need to take into consideration that the track is still pretty green yet. I believe this was the first weekend it has been open. Take it again later in May and you may see the times improve a bit more.

I ran my car the first weekend last year with Drag radials and could only muster 1.8-9's for 60' and it's usually good for low 1.7's

Well on May 17th they have a Thunderbird SC vs Grand Prix GTP Club Clash, Street Legal/Sport Compact, Test & Tune, Junior Dragster.

I'll show up and try again with a 76mm pulley, Cobra heat exchanger, and tune. Think this might drop me below 13.99? Maybe I should by a helmet just in case. :)

That's a good time for basically a stock engine. Don't let that other fux get to you. You will beat a lot of none moded cars with that time.

i think a set of drag radials is all you need to get a 13.99. Any more mods, I imagine the same times, with higher trap speed..maybe; mostly more spinning?

Is your bolt pattern the same as grand prixs? If so i could let you borrow a set of dirt track tires on rims (like cheap drag radials it worked for my bros regal gs) Thats if your going the 17th.

Power adders are a good deal really, cruise lightly under n/a, add some small parts and a retune get a lot more power usually w 93 oct. You know back in the old days that's musclecar v8 speed esp? That cobalt does impress me. That's old big block times w street tires. I run 11.7/1 on a wideband w the eaton. Max lean a/f imo 12/1 w the eaton.

I was adjusting for 11.3 on my wideband this last time I went but my computer died before I could get it all adjusted. I managed to get my 8th down to 9.28 but still had the same 1/4 times with slower traps.

Next time I'll make sure the battery is charged for the laptop so I can finish what I started.

get yourself a small power inverter. totally worth it, just remember to take the battery off the comp so its not workin to hard. Is it spinning a lot?
