Well, i got sick of the "no highs, no lows, must be BOSE" sound system today... I was never happy with the sound that the BOSE system produced! There truely are no highs or lows, just all mid and even that didnt sound very great. No matter how much you adjust the shit it just never sounded good.
So today i decided to do something about it. I only had time to do the door speakers before it started raining so...

Here is the little guy straight of the car, actualy pretty damn heavy!!

This is what the inside looks like when you seperate the two box halves:

Sadly i forgot to get any pictures "in the process" but here is what i ended up with.

Went with a pair of Eclipse 5.25" (SE8355) and a pair of Eclipse 4" (SE8245) as well. These four will all be running off the deck, and the Eclipse 6X9 components (SC6900) i got for the back will be running on an Orion 3002. In the "mirror pods" or whatever you want to call them will be a pair of JL Audio XR100-CT 1" tweeters pushed by an old ass Alpine amp i found in the back of my closet...

Thats a pretty sweet install im impressed. Id say forget the 6x9's get one nice little sub, and bi-amp the fronts.

bi-amp the fronts.

explain... I can get a 4-channel dirt cheap! I may sound dumb but does the "bi-amping" still utalize the headunit power? :help:

Always wondered. What's the advantage of bi-amping?

what is this bi-amping you speak of?

woops sorry didnt notice any happenings. bi-amp or highlevel inputs leaves open your few to be had pre level outs. That way you can still adjust the fade, balance, equalizer etc. Your technically bi-amping when you run your fronts and rears to power just the front channel, so I dont like to use that word bi-amp, it can be mis understood.
Just get an amp with high level inputs, you run your headunit wires straight into it, and back out to the speakers.

hopefully I covered everything.

when I get a chance I could just draw up a little wiring diagram and it would be clear as day.

here ya go. You can do an amp per channel, or an amp per speaker, or if components run an amp to the tweeter than amp to mid etc. Give you more options to adjust levels, and some head units dont have an amplifier anyway.

I was just thinkin. you could stick with how you have it setup, then for 6x9's run an amp off one of the pre outs. Although, I dont think your gonna hear much from those.

Yeah, i prolly will... I got my Orion 3002 for the 6X9s today. I have a toggle on the remote wire for when i am really wanting to ROCK i can turn the subs off and just CRANK THE SHIT UP!!! If you hav eever listened to slipknot you know that subs + Joey = not hearing SHIT! the drumming in most of there shit just overwhelms all the lyrics and other stuf fwhen you have subs... So it'll be nice to have those ampplified when the subs are off. Just have to decide what i am going to do with this shitty little Alpine amp I have left over.

god do i hate slipknot. i wonder if they were sitting around stoned one day and had this conversation:

1 - "you know what the band really needs? some retard banging on a 55 gallon drum. THAT would be awesome. are there any retards already in the band?"

2 - "yeah, pretty much all of us are retards, but he's a douchbag too; do you think he could handle mindlessly beating on a steel drum though?"

1 - "a steel drum-banging douchebag; it's brilliant!"

the rest is history.
