Tandem turbo and s/c testing

Some time ago I mentioned the tandem setup at vegas sema. Pikup the mm&ff jan issue the testing is laid out there. Needless to say some unreal boost levels were claimed 44 psi was a top # w 1188 sae hp and 1015 sae tq. that was stock manifolds and a xor exhaust, pumpgas boost was 4# turbo and s/c for 16# total. It looks like a stock pulley on s/c. They say it made 611 rhp and 640 rtq.

yeah they used a stock pulley on the supercharger and still had stock exhaust manifolds running to the turbos it said, thats a cool ass setup...

What got me was the boost levels achieved without even trying. I don't know htf they kept the head gaskets in, usually they start lifting at 28 to 30. If to be believed that low boost (16) had mo rwtq than about any setup at that boost level, twin screw or turbo without n2o added. Thanks for the read Scott, Mike was over and we had a few... I see the project car on their website, though no specs are posted.

Btw Scott world racing has that new setup, sbf block and 10 deg heads w 6 bolt cyl heads and block. For the big monster boost apps. W 200# spring seat pressure that ought to handle 50# of boost. That would be a perfect app for this tandem setup. That's better than anyone else. Run a tiny blower cam and put out 1200 to 1500 rwhp easy if you want. It's stock sounding like a ol 5.0 and quiet. I'd be happy w 420 rwhp myself. Almo went hi 10's w that in a 03.

Oh yeah I know, I heard some hearsay about those heads that arent good, its cool that my block would accomodate those but but they dont even make an intake for those yet..

Hmmm this to me looks like the tandem setup, now I don't know the specs but look here... Some ppl say no but that looks/sounds like a full eaton to me.

Damn why can't ppl do a decent video, looks like some crap I put out. They didn't do a closeup of the engine setup and the dyno screen clips look like crap too. However with my limited vision as it is it looks pretty eaton like unlike a turbo on a 4.6 4v. They could have mentioned the parts too.

Well what I hear is you drill and tap for 1/2" arp studs in the block and heads. It is a possibility if I don't break my foot or something.

Some more info on the car in the video which is car #2 we will say.

This was before ported eaton and meth.. The car made 820hp @ 28lbs of boost. 9lbs from the blower and 19lbs from the turbos and we r still tuning it up... plenty more room to go...
For mods. the car has hp turbo kit w/ 60mm turbos, return style fuel system, and a 100% stock engine right down to the throttle body.

Robs humble opinon...Ya I know a t/t is more efficent w pk #. Yet this has mo low end for street without a 2 step. He said the tires were spinning so the dip is tire spin. I would expect tq to be in the 800's by 4k cause the tq pk isn't till hp peak.

k final product @ 36 psi with the wheels spinning on the dyno we made 1020rwhp and 1018 rwtq, only changes we made from last time was ported blower, snow performance kit, and MORE BOOST. i'm not gonna lie the car prob. had more left in it but if u were standing beside the car and actual heard what it sounded like u would have stopped then too.

What will a twin 57 hp kit 4.6 stroker without the eaton put down at 23#?

New record for a tt kit @ 9.5#. It has 2 gt35r's w .58 a/r. A lil video at 9.5 psi boost u can see all the details pretty much.

He commented the street manners are much better. Torque output was 1,018 rwtq. The car is very responsive down low and the tires get blown away easily when rolling into the throttle at 70 mph. As Dez stated, "We are having a lot of fun and this car is tops."

Ya I can't wait to see some street action videos. Really this is for the street, it probably won't be any faster at the track vs t/t w a good car. Auto, 2 step, etc. But I could see on the street the instant eaton boost with a rising hp tq curve a good deal w these heavy cars. Run a methanol injection or e85 u could get some decent overall power from 281 c.i. Turn the boost up and down or ramp it up as rpms increase. I liked the fact car #2 already experimented w a ported blower and meth injection and got some big gains and it worked.

Seems to have decent throttle response for a stick...
