Question... (I am a "ford guy")
I was planning to build a 408W for the RX7 but found that everything is much cheaper for chevys. I want to build a 434 however i do not know if a 350 block is used for that or if i need a 400 block or what.... Do you know? If a 350 block is used i am interested...

im pretty sure a 434 is made by putting a 4" stroke crank into a 400ci block, but dont quote me on that...

minor correction; a 434 smallblock is made using a 400ci smallblock with a .030" overbore and a 4" stroke crank.

you need a 400 for that but puting a 4 inch stroke crank in a 400 just made it a tractor engine, some people de stroke 400 to 377s to rev to the moon

I dont know what bore a 400 is but your gonna need something bigger than a 4.125 with a 4" stroke to make a 434. If you want a good stroker motor cheap with a stock block I would stick with a ford, once you buy a set of heads and a cam and everything its about the same price but you get a much longer rod in a ford. But also I have a complete 350 chevy sitting at home if your interested dont know if its 4 bolt or not but I could make you a deal to go along with the trans, let me know..

a 434 is a .030" over 400 (4.155) with a 4 inch stroke.
as far as the Chevy stroker versus Ford stroker, why not go Chrysler smallblock and get shaft mount rockers along with the longer rods(6.123" stock)?

Still got this?
The other engine i bought turned out to be a complete turd... Block is unusable and it had 305 heads which wont flow for shit on the 383 so... more or less i bought a nice Crane cam and a Holley intake for $100 and got a shit block and 305 heads for free : )
anyways, my dad wants this (i bought the other engine for him but obviously....) so he will take it if you can come down to $70 for the block without the stand (he bought a new one for the junk engine i got him)...

the bore dosent look to bad, you could probly run it like it is, just hone it, but if you want to bore, id just go 30 over, most everybody does the standard 30 over, you could probly do 20 if you wanted to, i guess its what ya want
