Ok to make the story short, Last Sat. night it was nice and cool, so i left all the apartment windows open and the back patio door open with the screen door locked. I proabably shouldn't have left the door open, but i figured it was iowa and all with little crime. I stayed in that night and about 3:50 in the morning i hear the screen door forcfully being opened. I have guns in my place, in fact a loaded glock 21C by my bed (makes me feel comfertable lol) I sit up and listen to make sure i am hearing what i am hearing (my bed room is about 8 feet from the patio). Sure as hell someone is in my fing living room, i grab the glock pull the slide and enter the living room to see a staggering drunk in my apartment. He noticed the gun first and started stammering and backing up out the door. I didn't point the gun at him, but i had it next to my leg. To make the story quick the guy was from indiana (here for the iowa game) and his friends had passed out in the apartment above me and the building is s secured locked building so he was attempting to walk through my apartment to gain access to the apartment above me. He was also almost incoherently drunk. I made him give me his wallet and i took down his ID information then escorted him to his frineds apartment to confirm his story, which his friends were also hammered but knew who he was. To be honest if i didn't have my gun and know the responisbility of firing it (which kept me calm) i probably would of beat this guy to the point of borderline death. I don't understand how people can become this stupid while intoxicated. Heres some pics of my other toys.

man, thats why i love CR. no drunken out-of-staters to deal with. ive never been much of a gun person, but ive been thinking about getting a late 1800's Colt .45 repop, just because it would look awesome in my house.
sorry to hear about the dumbass man, but at least he wasnt trying to rob you ....

Glad to know some people know how to handle a weapon. Sucks about the break-in.
On a related note, Does Iowa have CHL's? I've been too lazy to look it up.

Thankfully you did not have to discharge your weapon. I want to take a firearms safety course when I turn 21 and then get a handgun of my own. I might as well exercise my 2nd amendment before the rest of my liberal party tries to take it away from me.
slobalt, what's a CHL? Is that sort of like a CCW? (carried concealed weapon, or something of that nature)

CHL = Concealed Handgun Lisc.
and yes Iowa has concealed carry permits. Sucks about that 5hit happening... I probably would have "softened" the guy up a bit before the cops got there to arrest him. But I also have dogs... and when my little german shepherd barks... holy hell it would scare the crap out of me.

I find it awesome after the whole story about almost beating him and shooting him you end the thread with "here's some pictures of my other toys"...lol I thought it was funny.
Anyways, it's a good thing he didn't have some sort of reaction to the gun and start trying to throw shit at you or break stuff. I've always thought I was allergic to stupid people.

Johnson County is super strickt about carry and conceal permits. You actually don't have a right to carry in iowa (it s big misconception), you have the privilige to carry if chosen to be allowed to have this privilige by the county. The county makes the decsion, mainly the Sheriff. In Johnson county very few people get the permit. We have the right to bear arms. (meaning purchase them and keep them in our homes) I can't walk around with a shotgun or handgun down town or im going to jail. Dargon USMC, dogs are the best!!! (certain breads of course) for protection, but also come with a great deal of responsibility ( my parents have boxers). I actually never even pointed the firearm at him ( in my book you point a gun at someone it is emotionally like fireing the weapon-but cops dont' think that), it stayed at my side the entire time till i made him lay down then i gave it to my girlfriend (who knows a thing or two about guns) and she cleared it after the guy gave me his wallet (so i could see his Id and decide if i was gonna call the cops, once i have his ID an he takes off, the cops know where to find him and who he was) and i could tell he didn't appear to be a threat (what he was wearing and etc.). He actually seemed like a scared shitless nice drunk guy, who i had to stand up becauase he was so drunk once he was on the ground lol. So don't think i came around the corner with gun aimed and ready to fire, i was a long ways from that i was still investigating and figuring out the situation, even if he had freaked out and thrown stuff, as long as he didn't come at me or have a weapon, i would have never gone further then just having the weapon next to me.

oh no I wasn't implying you were stupid about having the gun or anything. Actually it was a very smart thing for you to bring it out with you at your side in a controlled state of mind. Most people wouldn't be able to handle that type of situation and probably would have ended up shooting someone. I don't have any guns but I always have a sword next to my bed, and if anyone breaks in I will be waiting for them to walk into the path of the blade.
When I used to live with my mom my brother had an AK-47 always by his bed-side. Everyone went out of town besides me and he told me the AK was there and where the clip was. He told me don't hesitate to use it if your life is in jeopardy. He also told me that the bullets will go right through the walls and floor so you don't have to worry about seeing the person to shoot. Needless to say I didn't need to use it, but it is a good feeling you have that sort of protection within reach if you need it. Good saying about a gun is "it's like a condom...i'd rather have one and not need it, then need one and not have it".

^ AK's are so fun to shoot, i would love to own one although for home defense i wouldnt want any semi automatic rifle mainly because the majority of them can go threw walls. I think a shotgun is a little better choice.

Wow Adam, this hasn't been your year has it? The GT going out on you, the GT being hit in the rear and now this. I'm sorry but what did you do to piss of God? He just keeps backing the crap truck into your driveway and dumping the whole load. Sorry to hear that happened to you- glad you didn't shoot the drunk- but I couldn't imagine how pissed you were and how much you probably bustin' a cap in his drunken ass.

i dont have a problem with people having guns in the house unless children are in the house as well. i dont know, if you have a child, keep a gun in a lock box or something. just too easy for a child to find and play with...

I personally dont care for guns. I've fired a lot of them, it was fun..ok. I think a lot of people need them to feel safe, im fine with my ol' woody bat. Im no badass, but wheres the "romance" it plucking a guy form 30'? jk, but it seems like a lot of people who own guns brag about them a lot, to scare people. Not saying its you guys, you had a good story..whoever started this. Reminds me when I was chasing a car full a kids down the road with my bat...good times.

It is true many people hide behind/brag about guns. I grew up with them in the house (grew up in the country and all). Rob can remeber the night we were racing on C street and some kid mouthed off to his very nice wife ( it was unprovocted). Then threatened to shoot my twin brother. Ill let Rob finished that story lol, there are many retarded people in the world, and many wonderful, i just like to be prepared to handle the retarded ones.

Moral of the story.... Adam is pretty big, fuk with him, if he doesn't beat the crap out of ya, he'll mistake ya for a small bird and shoot ya IN the face...
Myself my 18.5" mossberg 500 home defender will do. I just have cheap crap.
As far as that story, that guy was acting a ass, all she did was ask him to move his car, it was blocking the entrance. I believe he got popped in the face. :yawinkle: Shortly thereafter the cops showed up after that dude left. Go figure.

A strange dog pisses on ur turf, well he's likely to get bit. Way I look at it. Even a old dog while gentle and experienced won't put up with bs too long... U were completely within ur rights and did exactly the right thing.
