I am trying to sell my talon quick. I bought it a couple weeks ago and it drove perfect until yesterday I accelerated hard in 3rd and heard a loud pop. It began to smoke blue from then on. Did a quick compression test and this is what i got 90,148,150,153. Maybe head gasket or possibly fried rings. The car is only fwd right now because I replaced the output shaft seal and didn't have time to put the driveshaft and transfercase back on. But I do have all the parts. Here is the break down on the car. THIS CAR DOES RUN AND DRIVE. It just smokes every now and then. Would make it long distances no problem.

Body has 107k
All parts only have about 11k on them.
rebuilt 6 bolt motor with all new std bearings, rings, and gaskets
Head was rebuilt with 3g lifters and new valves and seals
MLS head gasket
ARP head studs
New oil pump
New front case
BS shaft elimination
Fadanza lightweight flywheel
ACT 2600 Clutch
K&N Filter
custom 3" catless exhaust
MBC
KYB AGX struts
Eibach sportline springs
17" wheels
Newer tires

Tranny has been gone though
1st and 2nd shift forks replaced
Syncros replaced
WELDED CENTER DIFF

The body is decent. Small rust holes are beginning in the front fenders and the inner door sills. Everything works and it even has an old pioneer cd player and a sunroof.

I am pretty firm on price I have no doubt I could part it all out at get $1500 for it. The stock 14b is in good condition and has been pretty heavily ported. I can get more pics today. Thanks for the interest. Keep the questions coming.

ok....tell me this then...if it takes approx 5 minuts to change out a output seal, how come the transfer case and drive shaft is not in the car and installed when it takes another 15-30 minutes to put in. or is something wrong with the transfer case and your trying to hide it?

Haha no, I will put the transfer case and drive shaft on tomorrow if need be. I lost one of the driveshaft rubber bushings and had to move it out of my driveway that day so I just didn't finish. I was planning on putting it all together this weekend, as I have been busy building a motor for my colt gt.

ok dude...i need you to be honest with me here...you say all this stuff was done to this motor, and yet it has 11k miles on it since...now why in the hell do you have a valve cover pouring oil out? and the engine is dirtier than hell? im not trying to be a dick or anything its just i think someone isnt coming clean with what was done with the car...noone wants to be misled or be sold a p.o.s

Well I am definitely not trying to pull anything and I know how bad it sucks to get sold some POS. You don't have to take my word on this, you can come and inspect the vehicle yourself. I have been honest and told you the compression numbers. It just popped one day and started puffing smoke. Most all dsm's will leak oil out of the valve cover especially if there is excess crankcase pressure. If I cant get close to $1500 for it I will just part it out and we will see another awd dsm go to the scrap yard. Nothing is being forced here.

do you have any proof that all this work was done to the motor? ie reciepts? cuz that motor is dirtier than hell for being rebuilt....and i had 2 turbo dsm's and neither one of them blew oil out of the valve cover...and one of them had shattered pistons..so she had a lil excess crank pressure as it was blowing the dipstick out everytime i drove it

sounds like ya dropped a valve. I have 2 spare heads, and one complete motor if ya like. hate to see more go to the junkyard.

I don't think I have reciepts or anything. It cleary has a ACT 2600 on it and revs a whole lot fast than normal which could account for lightened flywheel and balance shaft eliminated. Im pretty sure either way it will need to be rebuilt again. The head was all gone through. So, I doubt that would be the problem. Need to get this out of the street. Make some offers? Come check it out? Let me know.

That was probably me before engine problems. I practically live at that place. You've seen it in person then. What'd you think?

I found a deal on a miata and decided to try the car in ebay without tearing it apart. Here's the link:

Good luck on that price.

Man I really hate 1990 dsm's. Everything about them is fucked up.

I've purchased alot of DSM. I don't believe I've owned your old one. I was never building an engine either.

Weel damn... who was it...?

it was a black 1G(a) TSI, silver GFX, sunroof, 5-speed, AWD and sold it with "some assembly required" as i was in the middle of replacing a seal and decided not to finish it... I think the person was building the engine inside their house IIRC... picked it up in Hiawatha had an enclosed trailer and a few older guys with him... paid $1600 IIRC
