well, i just got back....ran 4 times...2 14.1's and 2 14.00's thats gay imo....so its time for mods :) im hooked on it...the adrenaline rush i get from it is awesome....i surprised myself a few times actually....went up against some hardcore muscle, like a 69 camaro ss, that was obviously cammed, beat him.....a 87 monte ss, beat him, a early 70's challenger r/t beat him, then was going against a 98-04 era mustang gt, till the tree fucked up, and showed i red lighted before i was even staged which was gay, so i did a solo run :(

DustinsDuster
09-29-2007, 12:37 PM
so youre not gonna tell us what times you ran? come on man, dont tease us. by the 60's, i would guess low 14's, maybe high 13's. sound right?

I think that sticker in your window slowed you down.:)

Luminatorz34
09-29-2007, 01:48 PM
lol wtf....the sticker adds power every ricer will tell you that....haha....i ran consistent times ...first run was a 14.12 which was my slowest for the night. the rest were a 14.02, 14.02, and 14.07 first run was 94.35mph and the last was 100.35mph best 60' was 2.12

Is your camaro an auto?

DustinsDuster
09-29-2007, 03:50 PM
yeah, his car is an auto. were you manually shifting it Steve? or did you just throw it in drive and go?

Luminatorz34
09-29-2007, 05:28 PM
just in drive and go...although, i was only getting into the power band in 3rd gear by the end

DustinsDuster
09-29-2007, 06:10 PM
yeah, what rear gears are you running? probably somewhere around 3.23, MAYBE 3.42. with a stock converter and a near stock motor, you wont be anywhere near peak power going through the traps. hell, even on nitrous with a high stall converter and 3.91 gears, i was fighting to get past 6000rpm, but then again, i had 27" tall tires too....

ZEE
09-29-2007, 06:40 PM
Stickers only add power on an import. Everybody knows that.

ZEE
09-29-2007, 06:45 PM
Rear gears for an auto would be 3.23's.

Luminatorz34
09-29-2007, 10:37 PM
even if my car is a factory z rated car?

ZEE
09-29-2007, 10:52 PM
All Auto's were 3.23's. All Manuals were 3.42's. Factory z-rated tires means the rev limiter is set to 160 versus the 120 limit on cars that did not have factory z-rated tires.

I think with what you have thats a good time!! Throw some lower gear in it and I see 12's.

ZEE
09-30-2007, 06:55 PM
Put a lid and cat back and you should knock it down. I've personally seen stock (except for lid) auto's run anywhere from 13.2's to 13.8's on stock radials.

i think some autos came with 2.73s too. i believe it relates to all autos v6/v8. door codes gu2 - 2.73's, and i think its gu5 for 3.23's? please correct me if i'm wrong

Actually you are correct. :WORSHIP: I thought all autos were 3.23's. All SS/WS6/Firehawk autos were 3.23's. Z28 Auto were 2.73's unless ordered with the performance axle package. So look at your door.

ok, so a tiny ass update...i just bought a set of long tube headers...i will be getting a off road y pipe, and eliminating the cats altogether, then gonne redo the "cat back" and get rid of the flattened out piping...see if i gain anything at all with these headers..im trying to get ahold of a air lid now. then the maro should be feeling a lil better....also some guys on ls1.com reccommended a shift kit....what do you guys think? i dont want ot lose the driveability of the car at all. but would like to gain et's in the 1/4 just not looking to make a weekend warrior outta this thing just yet

Domestic Disturbance
10-06-2007, 04:25 PM
a shift kit will make it much better. you wont have to worry about drivability at all. itll just have quicker response changing gears

whats LT's and Y pipe did you get?

Luminatorz34
10-06-2007, 05:49 PM
i just bought the long tube headers....their pace setters..i dont have a ory yet...i want to get the headers here and then see how im gonna set it up...cuz now with headers and the ory i wont be running cats, so i might be throwing in an electric cutout..dont know where ill put it...but for now im in the market for a ory

ZEE

Headers aren't going to gain you a whole lot. The most gains from headers will be with the addition of a cam. Even better with heads also. Stock Ls1 manifolds are really pretty decent. Unlike LT1 manifolds which suck. Catback would be good. I'd skip the shift kit and just get tuning software. Then you can tune the tranny to do whatever you want and you won't need the shift kit. Do the headers have provisions for emissions AIR, EGR etc? If not, Your going to have to get the codes turned off. Another reason to buy tuning software. With the offroad pipe your going to need O2 sims or turn off codes for the rear O2's. More reasons for software again.

pacesetter headers are supposed to be the best bang for the buck headers, but don't get their off road y pipe. i think the popular choice is Texas Speed & Performances (TSP) adjustable ypipe. I dont know from personally experience but I know i've heard of that combo several times when it comes to using Pacesetters.

This is a comparison of KOOKS vs Pacesetter, but a lot of people mention their combo's with them

well i have a magnaflow cat back already, so this will just help me out...but, isaw a guy in town here that ive been trying to chase down for the last 6 months..he has a beautiful 00 camaro...and louder than hell. i was able to stop him and talk to him...asked him what hes running for exhaust..he told me he has long tube headers and then a true dual with borla stright thru type mufflers...i always thought he had a cutout but assured me it was just true dual...but he has a cam also, as it had a tiny bit of loping at idle.....but in all honesty, id like mine to sound like his, but dont want to be a copy cat. but im sure if i stick with my long tubes, a cutout after the headers then redo piping into my cat back i should be satisfied...i was thinking a cam also, but just want to throw on the headers and see what it wants to do...and i still need a lid to complete the package..to answer your question yes i got the headers with the egr provisions. as mine is a 99. and you need those. 00+ you didnt need them..so i thought id play it safe and do it this way..and i will need a ory still and o2 sims....so pretty much the headers might sit a few weeks before i can do anythin, and im trying to buy a truck right now too, so the camaro is my only vehicle right now, and cant afford to knock it out for a weekend and attempt headers and not have all the parts there....so yeah itll just be a few weeks, gimme time to accumulate the parts i need

ZEE

Most that have the 'true duals' Dump them right in front of the axle. You would be surprised the number of people that get them, love them, then hate them, then put a catback back on. They are so loud in the cabin and the drone at highway speeds is awful. They sound great outside though. You trading that small gain for awful cabin noise. You should look into an LS6 intake for that and get that extra 15 RWHP. Make sure get rid of that paper filter when you get a lid. :yawinkle: Most run the cutout before the axle after the Y.

Luminatorz34
10-07-2007, 11:44 AM
i will look into a ls6 intake....this guy had the borla mufflers coming out the rear...didnt dump at all. but yeah i was gonna tack a cutout in right after the ory, then re fab the piping to the muffler again. and already ahead of ya on the paper filter...ive been running a k&n for the past 2 years
