Figured I tell of my favorite kill down Mexico way

Late one night the wife and I decided to go get a midnight snack at Steak n Shake. Ok, I talked her into it 'cause I wanted to see what was out late at night .

So after grabbing a couple of shakes and chilicheese fries we head back down the local hiway on our way home. I see this M3 and give it a slow pass, he didn't take notice so I continued. Then this little Sentra decides he won't let me pass, so I acclerate in 4th and pass him by, I notice the Bimmers head lights lift a little and follow me. Hmmm....... looks like he may go for the bait. Nobody ahead but the stop light so I slow a little hoping to catch the red and maybe an M3, meanwhile I hear the Sentra going for a flyby but its not fast enough to catch the green.

It's a three lane hiway and I'm in the center lane I notice the bimmer slides over and takes the right lane,.... alright looks like I got him on the hook. He revs his engine a little....I've got him on the line now I just need to reel him in a little so I don't rev, just give a nod and a smile. The wife just ducks in her seat "oh god here we go again" and shakes her head. We see the yellow and he revs up, I give him a little line and I bring my RPM's to a little over 1500 and wait for the green.

Now right here it seemed like time slowed for just a second before the light turned green, I could swear I heard the light click as it went green and, screeeeechhhhh, we both take off, side by side through first, we shifted to second about the same time I was a little quicker and lurched ahead by a nose, 40..., 50..., 60..., he shifts to third....., right when I heard the shift I knew I had him. My car kept pulling while the M3 had to coast for that brief moment he shifted, He's at my rear bumper when he completes his shift, I speed shift to third and bye bye M3. woohoooo. I had him in the boat and he was floppin' around.

I let up and wait to see what he'll do. He rolls up give me the thumbs up. He sez "Damn, is that thing stock?".

I just replied "You don't think a stock cobalt could beat ya?"

He shrugged his shoulders and said "Ya never know"

We complimented each others ride and we went on our way.

After all this the wife and I hear the Sentra and some other car flyby, we just looked at each other and laughed.

I never thought i would hear a bad sounding bimer untill yesterday, one was trying to show off to me and it sounded worse than my civic. Red 2 door lowered, not sure what model.

nice kill tho. what is done to your cobalt if anything?

not too boxy but not as sleek as the 2000's look either. If I had to guess I'd say between 95-98 maybe. The e46's are a little out of my league. I'm lucky to push 240hp as GM claims with their stage 2 kit.

After readin' about some of the beasts y'all drive, 300+ HP. I'll never see that in this car.

Flat is good so long as it's torque

i like super charged cobalts, its to bad there doing away with the super charger for 08

don't feel bad about 240 hp I maybe have about 270-275 in my truck but I'm getting a bigger cam this fall so that should help quite abit then I should be able to proudly say about 300-305

Yep, just like that one. According to your link its the M3 E36. I thought so, guess I was the better driver that night.

Just what I thought,... first Dustin, then TBtalon, now tylers88 come the fall.

Hell, I don't feel bad, It's enough for daily driving and an occasional burst when needed. :bigthumb:

there's people on here making WELL over 300hp...

just cuz your car isn't making 300hp+ doesn't mean it's not nice. Hell R34 Skylines are advertised at 275hp ;)

Thanks, I'd like to do one more mod, the exhaust.

After that I want to begin on the appearance. I'd like to keep it clean and subtle nothing flamboyant. Tint, springs, rims and such. As i save money I'll make changes.

You can guess how much horsepower all you want but it all comes down to the 1/4 mile times IMO.

how about trap speed? Trap speed is good.

Trap speed shows overall power. Drivers will get the lower Et's. I'd say I'm a little north of 300 AWHP.

what about consistancy? i know an automatic trans helps a great deal, but my car is like a bracket racer most times i go to the strip - 12.62, 12.58, 12.55, 12.50, 12.47....spend a whole day within 3 tenths...
