Yeah this is random but I fucking love ups people. I just ordered my full exhaust last wed (April 18th ) and since its coming from Texas they told me at least a week (ups ground) and anyway yeah ups dropped them off this afternoon. Oh btw I ordered BBK Long Tube headers and the matching X pipe and ended it with an SLP Loudmouth cat back.

Headers:$489.95.
X Pipe: $329.95.
Cat back: $417.95.
Random Extras: $50.
Shipping: Free.
The look on my face when the ups man saw me run out of my house in my boxers to get the stuff myself: Priceless.

I spent: 200 on headers/y-pipe (used, new 400), 120 on test pipe and 700 on catback. Just under a thousand for me, domestic parts prices seem to be more expensive to me. I dunno. Damn DSM guys have parts coming out of everywhere, the parts are soooo limited for me it seems, lol.

700 for a cat-back...jesus, why the hell are they so much. I'd rather just get a few mandrel bends and weld one up myself. Save like 500 dollars lol.

Just another reference in expensive exhausts guys;
The headers and Y pipe for my LT-1 Z were 1200 not counting the cat back that was another 600 and a 150 for the electric cut-out.
A buddy of mine has a new Baja with twin 496 Fuel injected Mercruisers, the stainless steel headers for each motore are 5000 a set

$1500 for headers, Y and catback for me. And that's with a cheaper catback than most.

rediculous. and why do people buy test pipes..its a freakin pipe with 2 flanges! an exhaust shop can usually do the same for half the price. i though $300 was to much for turbo back so i bought some mandrel bends and straight pipe and made my own.

crazyness.

700 is ridiculous considering it is not flanged and had to be welded together. That was back when I was 16 and Denny's wanted to charge the same but with crush bent piping, yikes. If I had the know how (and tools) to weld I would have done it myself. But I don't so I bent over and paid the price, it sucks.

Because you can buy the pipe, and flanges already preassembled IN STAINLESS for under 100 bucks shipped. The time it would take me to make a test pipe is worth more than what it costs to buy one. Plus unless you have the stainless sitting around to make it you will spend just as much on a 10ft stick of 2.5" mild steel pipe as you would on a test pipe off ebay. Now if you are actually going to spend the money to have an exhaust shop make a test pipe for you the final price with parts and labor is so close to an ebay one its not worth messing with since it will be mild steel.

The ebay exhausts are allright, but they use pretty thin wall piping (dangerous when you rock your whip a couple inches off the ground), they use a little too thin of flanges for an exhaust, and they use shitty stainless that will still end up rusting. Some of them come with resonators, but alot of them are a muffler only and are fairly loud on a turbo car which means downright ridiculous on an NA car. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. On the bright side you can pay to replace the ebay exhausts a couple times before you hit the cost of a high quality unit. Its one of few items you are fairly safe purchasing from ssac and megan.

I just can't justify paying that much for some piping and flanges. Granted I do have the know-how and tools to weld one myself so I guess that increases the demand for low cost units.

The ebay exhausts I found are just fine. Specially Megan racing. I had a full megan racing exhaust on my 1g and it came with a resonator. Everything was 3", fairly thick tubing, half inch thick flanges, tig welded everything, and all stainless hardware. They make better quality exhaust then say DejonTool or a few other DSM vendors i can think of.

I actually accidently bought one of the 3" FWD cat-back exhausts for a 2g dsm, then just ended up cutting it up and using the bends to make the exhaust fit my AWD. Everything is still flanged, all 3" ss, and polished. Got it for around $225 shipped...then my downpipe was like $90 shipped. So $315 and a couple hours of welding. I think it was worth it :)

If you look around closely you can find a full turbo-back exhaust from ssautochrome for close to $400 shipped. Turbo back 3" polished SS, with a test-pipe, 2 resonators, and an N1 style muffler. They linger around on there every now and then. Just gotta watch for them. SSautochrome sells the exhaust on their website but for like $700 or something like that. Just watch for it on ebay and you can get it cheap.
