CR:U'S NEXT BBQ!!!

7-18-07: The CR:U moderators and administration will be making a very important announcement at the Picnic this year and we would like everyone to be there to hear this news live. Please make plans to be there.

CR:U IS HAVING ANOTHER BBQ

Here's the details:

When: July 28, 2007 at 1:30 P.M.
Where: Sugar Bottom Recreation Area

Sooo.. how do you get to our pavillion? It's pretty simple.

FROM CEDAR RAPIDS:
1) Follow 6th St SW, it will turn into HWY 965
2) Turn LEFT onto N Dubuque Street in North Liberty
3) Turn LEFT onto W Penn Street
4) Turn LEFT onto N Front Street
5) N Front St turns into CR-F28 (Mehaffey Bridge Rd)
6) Turn RIGHT into the Sugar Bottom Recreation Area
7) Follow Sugar Bottom Rd to the BOAT RAMP, not the Campground
8.) Our pavillion is on the right side of the road, we'll have banners :)

So you're probably asking yourself, why come to the BBQ?

-Free Food! We'll be providing brats, hamburgers, chips and dip, potato salad, and a few other random bbq foods, plus water and gatorade. If you want a different drink or something to munch on, feel free to bring it!

-Games! We plan on having a volleyball net and will be giving away prizes! Free CRU T-shirt, anyone?

-Meet people! Theres a lot of new people on the board who haven't gotten a chance to meet everyone, plus it's a good opportunity to check out everyone's cars.

-Lastly, just because it's fun. We've done a few of these before and everyone enjoys them, plus, this pavillion is by a free beach for those who like to swim!

Finally... alcohol will not be provided at the BBQ. You may bring your own alcohol if you would like to drink. However, if you will be drinking, please make sure you have someone else to drive you home. Also, no one under the age of 21 will be permitted to have alcohol. The reservation is in my name, so if someone gets cauht drinking and driving, or drinking underage.. it comes back on me. So please have fun, but have fun safely. :)

^ Bring the v-ball net if you can remember. I feel like I can recall there being a great place to put that thing last year.

It will be a good time this year. I really think doing only one cookout was the right thing to do because we can concentrate all our efforts on one great cookout instead of having to split time and resources into two different events.

LOL, it looks like shit right now. I took everything off for winter and then left for school. I should have left it on because I didn't even drive it in the snow, doh on me.

Brett and I may be vacationing with my parents in MN or working. We both work at the same place so we dont have to worry too much about schedule conflicts. If were not busy we will definitly show up! Were also having a potluck in June/July for the Independent Racing site which you all are invited to go if you would like. Send me a message if you want but it would be better to send it to Fox so he can relay it to me. I am hardly on the computer anymore since I work all the damn time!

so last minute update.. i just sent steve some directions from 380 and i realized it's a little more simple for some/most people. heres from 380:

-Take 380S to the North Liberty exit (i believe it's exit 4)
-Turn LEFT onto W Penn Street
-Turn LEFT onto N Front Street
-N Front Street turns into Mehaffey Bridge Road.. stay on this road Smile
-After you cross the river, turn RIGHT into the Sugar Bottom Rec Area
-Follow Sugar Bottom Rd to the BOAT RAMP, not the campgrounds.
-Our pavillion is on the right side of the road, with a big parking lot in front of it.
