lol j/k but no really if anyone is thinking about joining any type of service ie airforce, army, marines, navy I might be able to answer any questions + i was a recruiter down at Linndale Mall. As far as the army goes u can go in as a E-3 private first class and make a base pay of $1,506 a month but also keep in mind that u dont have bills and if you are married u get BAH which is around an extra $1,000 a month. If you have college u can either go OCS (officer school) and a 2nd Lt makes about $33,000 the first year and then goes up. or you can go in as a E-4 Specialist. Ive had a blast so far and have been to Iraq 2 times and love it!! You get a GI bill to pay for college which last I heard was around $50,000 and you get $400,000 life insurence. Also while you are at your duty station you can take college for free.. and get a cool laptop. Im taking classes at virginia Tech on weekends and 2 nights out of the weekdays. Sorry for venting

it always sounds good in writing, but i just really dont think the armed forces are for me. i really dont do well with orders or getting yelled at, and i know the more i would resist them, the harder they would try to break me down. just doesnt sound fun to me.

or you can bypass the girl scouts and join the Marines... The pay is worse, we wont GIVE you any rank, living quarters are crap, food is worse... but hey, we didnt promise you a rose garden, we just said you would be the few and the proud.

If anyone one wants to know about Air Force ROTC, you can ask me. I'm almost done with my second year of it and I have learned a lot. I'm off to our version of boot camp, field training, this summer. So you don't just learn how to sit behind a desk. lol.

Don't forget the rules. More rules . Lot's of rules. Live the way they want you to rules. Act the way they want you to rules. Look the way they want you to rules. Show respect to an officer like they are some kind of god when they really are a moron rules. To many god damn rules. But in the end though, Once a Marine always a Marine. I'm proud to have been one but I probably wouldn't do it again. I wouldn't beleive a damn thing any recruiter tells you. They'll tell you anything to get you in. The more people they recruit the more bonus/points towards rank or what ever they get. Unless it's in writing they aren't obligated to anything verbal they tell you.

that was the one thing holding me back from joining was the rules and getting yelled at. Im not going to lie to you, u do get yelled at and there are rules. But it really wasnt that bad going through basic and AIT... and its not that bad here in the regular army. I dont get yelled at and I sure dont run into to many officers that much and if I do then I just act like im busy while I walk past them and they dont say shit to me. But anyhow I had great fun going to Airborne school in ft benning last summer and doing Airassualt school this winter and I just got down today doing drivers training to learn how to drive every army vehicle there is to include tanks and even took a crown vic around a test course for defensive driving training to. Ive fired the M16A2,M16A4,M4, M203 Granade launcher, M2 .50 machine gun, MK19 full auto granade launcher, AT4 anti-tank rocket launcher, Frag granade,M249 SAW Machinegun, M240B machinegun, M9 piston,Mossberg shotgun, claymore mine.. just to man a few. I guess it all depends on your job and where u get stationed but since Ive been in its been real fun and I really enjoyed Iraq.. besides the 130 degree weather!!
