This is nothing new...I used to keep an eye on honda tech 6 years ago or so, and it was just a constant stream of stolen car posts every day :D

its the engines, especially swapped cars. complete swaps for cars can sell for alot, adn when you dont even have to pay for it in the first place you make alot of money.

these guys are good, they can strip a car completely in a matter of days even hours. so if your out in cali and your shit gets stolen, just give up, it aint comin back in one piece.

It's not hard to strip a car in under a day, and I can break into any integra or pre-00 civic in under 30 seconds.

Top 10 most stolen vehicles in 2005:
1. 2001 BMW M Roadster
2. 1998 Acura Integra
3. 2004 Mercury Marauder
4. 1999 Acura Integra
5. 1995 Acura Integra
6. 2002 Audi S4
7. 1996 Acura Integra
8. 1997 Acura Integra
9. 2001 Acura Integra
10. 2000 Jaguar XJR

You can break into them with a licence plate, after that pull down the carpet and plug in your own ECU (with bypassed anti-theft system) and the shatter the old ignition cylinder to bypass the steering lock and start the car. Pretty much all 4 cylinder ECU's of the same OBD are interchangeable, at least enough to drive the car.

You could also easily get a key cut for the car. I know alot of dealers don't even ask for proof of ownership. Some will, and they only want a insurance card with your name & address matching your ID, and the VIN on it. I could print one out in 10 minutes. Thatt's why I keep the dash VIN's on my car's covered up. It's illegal, but I doubt a cop will ever notice.
