So I started my project. i have it on a couple sites but i thought i would post it up here. its my 87 dodge ram50 truck. Picked it up for 500 bucks and drove it all summer. so i decided to do a nice little swap with a 4g63. I picked up the laser for 500 bucks. So i started the swap. Coming along pretty nice.
when i got it.

stock ram50's 2.0 was rated at 88hp. a stock 4G63T was rated at 215hp, and im sure his wont be completely stock....should be damn fun, cant wait to do it myself.
Derek, did you ever decide what you were going to do for a rear end?

Nope im going to wait till it explodes. I was told that they make adapter plates for a GM 3 speed or any gm transmission. so im not really sure. all im saying is im really excited.
but i did dent in the firewall. Not sure if thats enough. but i would rather dent it in then cut it out and make the firewall really weak.

and your right it wont be stock at all hehe.

why did you have to bang in the firewall? i have never heard of anyone having clearence problems with it...
also, i asked about the rear end, not the transmission. youre just not used to these RWD set ups, are ya? heheh

No im really not. but as far as rear end. i think im going to run a 8.8. but im not really sure. i can get one cheap. so i think im going to do that. And i just posted about the tranny cause i just found it.
as far as clearance. if you do not dent it in the thermostat housing will hit and cas will be really close.
people make a different tranny mounts that slide the engine up a inch or 2 and you dont have to do anything to the firewall. but i dont feel like making a mount. would look alot cleaner but this truck isnt worth making everything nice.

Well the engine is bolted in. I had to cut a hole in the firewall. no other choice. unless i made adapter plates for the engine mounts or got a front mount thermostat housing. oh well its a piece of shit truck anyways.
