As some of you might have seen, Im building an all motor crx. You can see my current list of mods in the *CR:U Garage*. I will get my car to a DYNO, as soon as I get my rear suspension fixed, and replaced. The body of the crx is..well could use some work. But In the end, I would like to see mid 12's but the end of the year, before I really do some bottomend work.

well, Just wanted to let you guys know, Maybe you've seen my build list or not. Ill post pics as soon as I finish the car.

Thanks for thoes who support me, and hope to see you in the 12's as well.

The car looks good man.

Hope you get into the 12's. It would be nice to see an all-engine honda run some decent times.

Cheers.

Zac

dustin_crxsi

No need to gut a honda. theirs what..8, 9 lbs?

Ricky
01-30-2007, 11:03 PM
well you might as well get rid of all the weight you can. loseing weight doesnt "hurt" your times.

a roll cage doesn't help either..

wow i looked at your mod list and you sure are doing a shit load of work. The thing i would say your missing, if you want to run 12's, is a limited slip diff. i would look into getting one of those while your at it.

SMSP headers (http://sms-products.com/Headers.html)

I contacted the Owner of RMF. they make some of the best headers in all motor honda's. SMSP headers are good as well. BUt I contacted RMF for a sponsorship. So I hope he writes back to me.the chances of me getting a sponsorship when this will be my first season of racing.

As as for you people telling me to gut my car. The frame is immaculate. their is some rust spots, but thats it. I had the car on a lift, and inspected the car myself. I have no reason to take out some plastic pieces to gain time. Im keeping the interior in the car. Weekend Warrior, late nite curses, maybe some Daily Driving.

Im thinking about Going with an OBX. I am getting a set of syncros. But putting them in after the Dyno, and tune. Im having a friend come from Ohio to tune the car. If anyone needs their ecu's chipped, and tuned, let me know. He uses a Great Program called Crome Pro. $75 to chip, I believe he also includes a custom map based on your mods.

Alright...a CRX full interior weighs what in the 2,500lb range? A full weight 1g dsm weighs around the 3,200lb range. My full weight DSM ran a 12.0@114 with 22psi from a 50-trim turbo. It also ran a 12.5@111 with 18psi from the same turbo. The 50-trim i was running was a decent size turbo. Good for around 400whp. Now do your math and I was running a decent amount of power. You have 500lbs on me..and I can bet that you aren't going to be over 200hp with your n/a motor. Probably more in the 150hp range. Sorry but you aren't getting in the 12's with full weight and 150hp or even 175hp for that matter.

Also the previous owner with my car ran 10.8, you believe me? No...don't post what the previous owner ran or for that matter don't post any times without proof. If you want proof of my times up there ^^ then I will be glad to give you the link to my timeslip.

Our point is Dustin. We like to hear you talk about what your plans are and how your going to build up your n/a motor...but we don't like you claiming numbers of what your GOING to run and other crap like that. It's false accusations and it's annoying. So stop.

Tell us your plans, and your hopes for what it will run. It's like me saying well i'm going to bolt on this pt-67 on my talon and run 10's because people with the same mods as me do it. It's benchracing and believe it or not is a form of being a "ricer". I thought you were out of that faze?

You may want to consider a YS1 trans, it has shorter (numerically higher) gears and a higher final drive. JDM S1/J1's do as well, but I don't know you can fit an LSD in the case. YS1 had an optional LSD in Japan. Y1 did as well IIRC.

I have The JDM Y1 transmission. I am ordering new syncro's for it. My 3rd gear is hell getting into at high RPM's. and for $250 for all of them its not bad at all.

ls vtec is good for more than 150hp as well. It's still cold outside, so if anything at all ppl will "benchrace" as you call it.

Right, the Y1 is a great trans., however the more agressive gearing offered by the other aforementioned transmissions would give you an extra edge on your quest to the 12's.

You will need 250+whp to hit mid 12's in a full interior CRX with a cage.

Good luck.

I did a little bit more of a Wire tuck. My Vtec wires were hanging out, so I made new connections, and made it look nice, also the ground on the front of the engine is gone.

I've pretty much stoped working on it. It Drives great and is crazy fast. I was going to install skunk 2 Pro 2 cams, But the guy I was buying them from backed out. as well with the guy with the slicks. (auctually lost contact with him)

I ended up getting a set of new Drag radials on 14 in steelies. I am in search of some nice cams. Im thinking about a set of Blox C cams. After that, I plan to redo my exhaust. I know My DC header is killing me, so Im looking at a SMSP, or REV header. $600 for them, but they gain about 11 whp more than stock. If I plan to go any farther than that, an electric water pump, and ITB's will be at the top of my list.

looking good. what did you do with it again? I wouldnt say the dc sports is killing you, but it is proven the higher end ones make a few more ponies. i would actually say that ram air intake is killing you. Go get the resonant/turbulence tuned AEM intake. They put some thought into those damn things.

I thought about it in the past... But If I were to go with a different intake, I may as well go with ITB's. Well a "home-made" set for now anyways. $150 for aem, or $200 for home made itb's. Plus their is a Dyno about 30 miles from me, I could tow it their to be tuned.

I put the Valvesprings, and titanium retainers in. Ported the head a little more, and energy suspension Poly urithane bushings on all the lower control arms, and front sway bar. Fixed a stripped head stud hole, and put in Golden eagle Head studs. New lower ball joints, and little odds and ends.

I should have considered port matching the IM runners, but didnt relize it untill after I had the car together, and the coolent in. I dont believe their is much of a difference, but I do know that the First Gen B16 manifolds are not the greatest. But then again it comes back to the queastion...New manifold with new throttle body, and intake...Or ITB's

DC is ok for a Bolt on build, No internal work. Im not sure how much I can get for my 5zigen cat back exhaust, but what ever it is, it will go to a custom made header, and custom exhaust.

8200.

I can take it to 8800, But I think that my cams arent making power after 8200, they are stock GSR cams. I wont go past 9000 because I still have stock rods, but they have ARP rod bolts. their has been some cases where the Rods streched at around 9300.
