I have decided to build my new computer rather than buy another one. dont really do too much, just download a bunch of music and videos, play online games every now and again, do some video editing that kinda thing. Here is a list of what i am planning to use, please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Looks alright, I'd go with a different case and power supply. Something name brand, like rosewill, thermaltake, or something decent from Newegg.

I second that, don't skimp on the power supply. Antec makes a nice case if you want to spend the money.

X3 power supply is important.

I might see if you can run dual vid cards if you are going to be doing video editing. You will want / need the extra power.

looks good, i agree with the rest of them about the power supply. also, if i ever decied to build another computer, im going to sticking with Asus motherboards (mostly personal preference) but i think next time im going to try AMD, i like my intel but ive read ALOT of good reviews and heard alot of good things about AMD. just food for thought.

also, when browsing for parts instead of buying the RAM, Processor and motherboard separate, sometime so save a couple extra bucks if you buy them as a set.

i rarely do video editing, but every now and again i get a little video of my car doin this or that, or sometimes when i take the TEC-9 and AR15 out i like to video that as well, kinda lame i know but fun to watch later on.


Also i am just buying that auction for the case, i can get another power supply no problem! jus one of those things i ran into and fell in love with!

The video card actually has practically nothing to do with 2D video editing. Video cards do 3D rendering, 2D editing power is pretty much all controlled by the CPU+RAM.

Buying an SLI or CF (dual card) setup usually isn't a good idea either. The VAST majority of the time (pretty much all the time, from what I've seen) you're better of buying a 200 dollar card instead of 2 100 dollar cards. Or a 400 dollar card, instead of 2 200 dollar cards, etc. About the only time it makes sense to do a dual card solution is if you're going top of the line and spending a lot of money, or if you buy one now and then buy another one a year from now when they're a lot cheaper and you need more power even worse.

The 1650 Pro isn't a terrible card (at its price point its actually a pretty good card), but if you're going to be doing any gaming I'd think about stepping up to at least a 1950 Pro. They're under 200 bones and a LOT more powerful than the 1650.
