This morning my friend craigs (iceman08 on here) car (98 buick regal gs) had an electrical fire that started in the trunk. It was prolly caused by the wiring to the amp but who knows now. Anyway it burnt the entire interior and all the windows are pretty much gone. A lot of good memories where had in and around that car and its sad to see it like this. But anyway if u want any parts for a 97 and up regal let me know. As far as i know he is keeping the L67 motor for sure. Maybe swap it into a Z34.

poor thing. i think that would be the worst to see happen to your car. nothing you can do but watch it slowly burn

I'll show you stupid. (Though honestly I'll still to this day not believe it was that crazy of an idea)
When I had my "system" set up, a piece on the circuitboard actually had fallen off and needed to be soldered back on. I actually can solder fairly well (did a lot of it in electronics class in high school) so I figured I could get that piece soldered back on without unplugging everything first.
Mind you, this piece was in an area of the amp where there was NOTHING else but this piece. The danger of it seemed very small.
Well I had melted too big of a piece of solder so while I was soldering, a small drop of solder formed about a BB sized piece and rolled about 1.5 feet across to the other end of the amplifier and perfectly connected a positive and negative piece of the circuit board.
When that happened, there was a big spark, that melted the solder so that it was stuck in position, and shortly thereafter a small fire started. My amplifier was actually bolted to the sheet metal on the back of my seat. I had to rip the amplifier off of the bolts first, and then I grabbed some wire cutters to cut through the ZERO GUAGE wires connecting to the amp. When you're really scared, you tend to have more strength and ability than normal. Somehow I managed to rip all 4 bolts out of the sheet metal on the back of my seat and cut through both of the wires in a matter of about 1 and a half minutes.
Luckiliy, I was able to fix the amplifier and use it afterwards. I ended up giving it to trent (drfast4ward) later because I thought it eventually broke, but turns out one of the wires on one of my subs had fallen off and I wasn't able to see that until after i'd bought a new amp and was ready to sell it.
that's stupid for ya... I guess. Though it sounds a lot worse than it was :)

Sucks he lost his car but sounds like he needs to learn how to rewire electronics.

Im pretty sure it was due to shitty wiring, cause it was just his "beater system" and it was made up of all car audio crap we had laying around. Car is going to the crusher on thursday i believe.

he should have had someone look over the wiring for a just in case factor

Is he going to try to do anything with insurance or does he only have liability on it?
