Here's kind of a compilation of pictures from around the Austin area. There's really 2 sides to Texas: a dry, desert side and a lush, fertile side. Both exist at the same time, just in different areas.

Dry:

One of the typical fields.

Another barren field.

A flood gauge on the road indicating how high the water can get.

Plants:

The typical cactus plant found all over the place.

Some sort of edible fruit that grows on locals cactus.

http://bryanandsara.com/images/Texas/Cotton.JPG
Cotton plants that many farmers produce.

One of the many nearby cotton fields.

http://bryanandsara.com/images/Texas/Palms.JPG
Small wild palm trees that grow all over the place.

Water:

http://bryanandsara.com/images/Texas/Dam.JPG
This dam completely stops water flow. About 30 feet from the bottom is a road that leads up to a private ranch. Must be someone important to have their own dam.

Water above the prior dam.

Misc:

Grave of a famous settler murdered by indians.

http://bryanandsara.com/images/Texas/LogHeadstone.JPG
A headstone made of a log, pretty uncommon.

http://bryanandsara.com/images/Texas/Mountains.JPG
Mountain range shot of Texas.

http://bryanandsara.com/images/Texas/DreamHome.JPG
A house we went to look at that's for sale

Another view of the same house.

Well, sorry for so many pics! Hope you enjoy!

Oh yeah, we definitely are. We've been going to the beach nearly every weekend, going out to eat almost every day, there's so much to do.

Tons of car shows, watersports, bars, Shakespear play last week, Rob Zombie/Godsmack concert last weekend, Fun Ford weekend in Dallas in Sept, Bulls vs Spurs game in San Antonio in Oct, Nascar race in Dallas in Nov... never a dull moment!

It's warm here, but not humid. Everyone down here complains when it's like 30-40% humidity, we just laugh  We've had 23 days over 100 this month so far.
