This was after about maybe 6 minutes worth or drifting or less...

Its mostly the inside part of the tire worn out because i still have stock suspention and an open differential on my 240sx, but does anyone know why the tire ripped up like that so fast? I think it looks a little worse in person than the picture. Im pretty sure it was just a soft compound tire or it was old, but i thought it looks kinda cool. I might have to run it for another 3 minutes or so and get it real bad then just keep it in my room haha.

Anyone have any tire preferences for drifting so this doesnt happen next time? What should i look for when im picking out my next set of tires so i dont waste money mounting them again just for this to happen

we use used tires on our stock car as all do in our class. When they start to loose most there tread witch yours look pretty worn out ours do the same thing. Maybe pump up the tire pressure some, Like 50 lbs.

If you are buying used tires stick your finger nail in them and get what feels the hardest.

old tires/overheated. as a tire ages it looses oils that keep the rubber soft, and it weakens. Get it hot, expect it to chunk.

You can try pausing to cool off every couple minutes.

we have an infra red tire temp gauge and a person doesn't realize how hot tires can get. we have had our right rear a 147 degrees before when the car is to loose.

147 is weak. When the tire keeps smoking for minutes after finishing 2 laps, that is hot.
