its like your asking for trouble...

go auto cross, that way you can go fast, and turn.

Auto-x is more fun. Living in Iowa is nice because we have MAM about 3 hours away from Cedar Rapids. Drag racing is fun too, but I have always preferreded autox / road course racing over drag racing. I don't know dink about a Honda's ability to handle though so I can't really comment on which would be a better choice for it to do..

why do you need a flame suit for auto-x? :)

I'd choose Auto-x over drag any day of the week personally. I think drag racing has become over-rated anymore.

Show me one fast honda from around here? I'm talking low 12's or faster to not 13s or 14s, I just couldnt believe I read fast and honda in the same sentence. Just kidding guys but If you truely wanted to go fast you wouldnt wast your time on a import, but the autocross question I really dont know because I dont do that!

Why not have both, go fast straight and through the 90's.
Just a thought.

krustindumm
06-20-2004, 04:55 PM
chassis setup is VERY different between the two.

lil krumm
06-20-2004, 06:28 PM
so i'll set it up to go fast but still have good handling for the street.

Thats where the word "compromise" comes in.

you might as well make it for autocross cuz honda's arent fast enuf for road racing, and as far as drag racing goes it most likely wont make enuf power where your chassis setup will make much of a difference. If somehow you do end up making a little bit of power then the traction from a pair of slicks will be plenty for you either way...

krustindumm
06-22-2004, 04:13 PM
not fast enough for road racing? what rock have you been under???

Look up the RealTime Racing RSX or Integra sometime.

Coimpromise does not work well for FWD cars. For auto-X the usual setup is stiff rear sway bar w/ light springs, and a light (or No) front sway bar with heavy springs.

For drag you want no front sway with light springs and VERY heavy rear springs.

That sure looks like some mustang road racing food to me. My guess is that would give you quite the run for your money in the quarter mile too.

yeah Im sure that cars street legal too  that does look like a fun drag race actually but something tells me it doesnt really have a chance since its probably geared to go 160 or better and wouldnt get out of the hole.. would be curious to see what the time and mph would be though. yeah and good luck on the "fast honda" turbo-X

there are several fast hondas here in DM. Several that have ran 12s and have slips to prove it.

I think personally the problem lies in what you have drove/rode in, I highly doubt many people on this board have ridden in a 10 or even 11 second ride, not your buddies dsm that says he runs 11's but really doesnt, once you feel that torque and that speed of breakin into the 9's autocross comes second, just me.

~Chris

PS Think of this way, you dont autocross all the time, be halfway good at auto-x but be killer at the track, that way if your out rollin around you dont gotta get nervous when a new SS Camaro or Corvette rolls up.....know what I mean vern.

although auto cross does give you a good view on how good your first 3 gears are. 86 gti about 40 in second.

I personally like autocrossing. Played too much Gran Turismo 3 LOL.

Drag Racing is great, but the adrenaline rush you get from dragging is nowhere as long as an autocross run (think, 10-15 seconds compared to 1-2 minutes)
I guess what it all comes down to is personal preference I guess.

being able to finish a standing start quarter mile in under 15 seconds is a pipe dream for 90% of this board.

ok idk why every budy is bashing on hondas capabilites...

hondas when set up are killer in autox also when built they are also very fast.. and streetable at the same time :goodman: not many domestic guys can drive around the street with a sub ten sec car on pump gas

its gonna cost a lot to run those things. but I'd give em a try, go for the stiffer ones tho. not as efficient mpg wise but very close.
