I know I'm new here but I wanted to share that a very close friend of mine who happens to be the Tech Officer in Modern Mopars of Iowa recently opened his own business. He's been a huge asset to my club, and a good friend, so the least I can do is put the good word out for him.

Basically he has leased the maintenance area at the old Bob Brown Dealership on Aurora Avenue right off of Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. You can rent a heated service bay, with access to a lift for $35.00/hr. They also have tools available for rent, air hook-ups for air tools, and you can order consummables and parts through the local Autozone which delivers them to the garage. They also have ASE Certified mechanics that can be called in to help assist you with any projects that just go a little over your head. That of course carries a higher rate though. They also offer oil changes for $25.00, or you can do your own oil change, with your own oil/filter for $10.00

So if you're someone like me that doesn't have a garage, and really doesn't like crawling around on the ground to work on your car that's sitting up on jack stands then this could be for you. I can vouch for the owner and his wife. They're extremely good people, that'd give you the shirt off their back if you asked for it.

great idea, always wondered how the liability and tool use situations would be worked out. Or if perhaps a big project had a setback and was stuck in the bay overnight needing to order a part etc. hope it does well.

They had a lawyer write up waivers for them to protect them from liabilities. Nobody can set foot in the shop until they sign a waiver releasing DIY Garage of any and all liability.

Not sure on a big project. I'm sure they work it out so the person doesn't have to pay a massive fee if it has to sit overnight but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

I think I'll give it a try this week, need to rotate tires and working in an unheated garage sucks. Can't wait to move.

Hope it goes well for you. DIY Garage was actually just featured in USA Today.
