Lately just dropped in a new FX-350 clutch from Clutchmasters, and the trouble just kept coming
Problems in the last month...
Radiator leaking...done
timing belt skip...done and replaced
Fans wont shut off when started...parts are in
AXLE FRIGGEN GAVE OUT...parts are ordered...mumblemublemuble...at least it should just be the axle
So looks like i'll be spending spring break on the ice covered driveway, replacing the axle and the fan sensor in the lower radiator hose(going to get drenched in the process)
BUT-> Plans
FMIC is awaiting piping,
Stage 3 nefmoto tune
630cc injectors
85mm intake being built

And last but not least...here is my cat...hiding in the Christmas bush (too poor for a tree)

slow ride
03-11-2014, 12:14 PM
I see you were in balltown. Loves me some good NE IA, SW WI, SE MN roads/hills. Car looks nice, what ride height is it set at? I haven't seen many people talk about those coilovers.
Don't worry we all have issues from time to time. Re-doing my front main seal, which is a lot of work for a $4 part :) Stupid cars.
Dorny1
03-11-2014, 12:21 PM
ride height i think was 24.5 front and when tank was empty...(stupid in a hurry me) set the rears at 24.75"...she is lower in the back if i have a full tank and passengers... but yeah fall tour with Projekt German the first year they did it.

I have got to say I really liked the black engine bay. That downpipe looks very nice.
How do you like your racelands? They just released a set for the 1st gen neon and its pretty tempting, however I have read a lot of negative reviews.
Dorny1
03-12-2014, 10:39 PM
The raceland ultimos are pretty quality compared to the standards, and for a two year warranty for <$450 you cant go wrong. They ride alot better than standards (standards feel bouncy) these just make the car feel solid. I like them over my vogtlands but then again i dont mind a stiff ride.
The Y pipe has been silver, white, gloss black, flat black, neon green, red and many of those colors over and over...I get bored and repaint cause i can...This has just been the flavor of the month for the winter...
slow ride
03-13-2014, 06:29 AM
I thought about shaving the mounting tabs off my y pipe for the covers, but the mold protrudes into the pipe and is easy to break through. I want to do a black wrinkle finish. Any idea how those coils do vs say some ST's since they are both on the lower end of pricing? I don't lower my cars as much as some so I'd keep it just under 26" which helps with ride a lot.
Dorny1
03-13-2014, 06:40 AM
I'd say go with ultimos, ST's ride like the standard Racelands and those ride like crap. I think till just recently both didn't even have warranties, only the Ultimos did so I would assume the quality would be better with the raceland ultimos. If you want a comfortable ride all three of them are not your choice, but for cheap but good around corners ultimos are the best.

Aw, I did not know they had multiple versions. The neon coilovers look to be the standards, they also have a hybrid spring that is a mix between oem looking and coilover. I suppose it would probably work better just to order some sleeves and convert my koni's into coilovers.
The Y pipe has been silver, white, gloss black, flat black, neon green, red and many of those colors over and over...I get bored and repaint cause i can...This has just been the flavor of the month for the winter...
Aw gotcha. I suppose if its easy enough, why not.

03-13-2014, 07:18 AM
literally three clamps one connection and three bolts to pull the y pipe (and the plastic covers which pretty much pop off...so pretty easy for an audi :D
They have two versions
Ultimos which have harder springs and harder dampening, allow "MOAR LOW"
"regulars" with softer ride quality (this might be why they bounce) and wont go as low as Ultimos

Dammit, I miss my B5.
Good looking car Dorny!

well she's a broke car right now...Blew the axle out last week, bumper and exhaust is a little tweaked from the trailer. But going to try and swap the axle out tomorrow, It broke inside the joint from what I can tell...but very low and big tires makes looking underneath without a jack is kind of hard. been rolling with a bad one for awhile.
Hopefully she's moving tommorrow
List for spring break:
1. Lower fan control sensor w/ mandatory coolant flush...
2. Power steering cooler and relocation (necessary for when I put the FMIC in)
3. Headliner re-hang
4. raise the rear of the car 1", front 1/2" (roads are way too bad)
5. finally get past the break in period for my clutch maybe do a few little power runs

So did a little work on the cars...Girlfriends car got a little work done with a new vcg, plugs, and a little airbox swisscheese and removed a baffle. Butt dyno says car was being held back by the intake for sure. GF's butt dyno said the same.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/fastford5/Mobile%20Uploads/5A2113AF-AF17-4ACC-A577-025FF44F7D82_zpsf4o9omx8.jpg (http://s46.photobucket.com/user/fastford5/media/Mobile%20Uploads/5A2113AF-AF17-4ACC-A577-025FF44F7D82_zpsf4o9omx8.jpg.html)
But axle is in the car, and the fan controller sensor. Also had the girls brother over who is interested in cars come over and help me do a little work. So we did the rear calipers painted, doing the fronts tommorrow and adjusting the suspension up a little in the front and some in the rear. Might also investigate what is causing the noise in my front suspension, think one of the fronts is out of balance. ANYWAYS MOAR PICTURES!

Looking good!
In regard to the Raceland coilovers, I purchased the standard Racelands before the Ultimos even existed, and I have had pretty good luck with them for the 1.5 years I've had them on my car. They are indeed bouncy if you go very low, I had the car down ~3" from stock (wo/ sport suspension) and its was very bouncy. I raised them back up to about 1.75-2" lower from stock and its not as noticeable.
Dorny1
03-18-2014, 06:01 PM
ultimos aren't too bouncy, i'm ~3"-3.5" lower than stock
but got the gf's brothers mustang gt's brakes done, and painted them for s's & g's. Got my fronts done and found the noise in the front i've been searching for. Wheel was bent, moved it to the rear and counter balanced to help, then painted my front calipers going to go take the car through a wash tonight for pictures.
BUT car parts showed up today! one step closer to having the fmic in, albeit a small step. Power steering cooler, just need the splicers to come in, some fluid, and more hose. (and hoe's)

time for a drive, and a spray down. To pot hole ridden UNI!

03-20-2014, 08:13 PM
So end product of my slight spray painting. looks a little bit less blacked out. Not really doing much in terms of gofast, but just waiting on funds for the fmic. I gotta have my buddy see if he can track down my boost leak by my drivers side turbo. Pinhole leak thats causing soft limp mode. Plans for this summer is probably a new set of rims, some injectors and a tune...

Well first off, found I have a bent rim, got it balanced enough to stop any vibes...just annoying tire wearing sound, headliner still needs to be rehung, and front fenders need rolled but THE GANGS ALL HERE!
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/fastford5/Mobile%20Uploads/B65AE835-9084-4C8C-A1C7-6CEAE68F96D3_zpsozvp44gt.jpg (http://s46.photobucket.com/user/fastford5/media/Mobile%20Uploads/B65AE835-9084-4C8C-A1C7-6CEAE68F96D3_zpsozvp44gt.jpg.html)
CXRacing FMIC, power steering cooler (needed to relocate the stock one to fit the fmic), and Cupra R lip. I changed out the spark plugs this weekend, cleaned out the air filter, cleaned out the car, and finally raised the back end so its level with a full tank of gas.
Hoping to have at least the intercooler/ps cooler installed before next weekend, but can't do shit this weekend. Hoping maybe to find a place to work on it tomorrow. It's nice to have from 10 am on free...but no garage or even concrete to work on at my place.

Have fun fighting that piping to make it fit haha, even without the fog light grills and other stuff they are a super tight fit to the APR bi-pipe I had.
Dorny1
04-08-2014, 02:12 PM
stock bipipe so it will also flex a bit to where i need them. (they added 2.5" for the apr bipipes ect), deleting the checkerboard grills, headlight washers, and no fogs so no problems hopefully.

Looks good!
How much of a pain was it to get those plumbed in there?
Dorny1
04-08-2014, 11:44 PM
had it put in plus the power steering cooler in about 2 hours, took another ~2 to get the bumper on, little ghetto rigged for the bumper fitment is poor for that but bumper brace is in half, going to have my cousin and his mad fab skills redo the brace with some reinforcement. bumper is a mess, ziptied all the cracks, and drilled out the end of the cracks. Plans are to run an RS4 bumper from Ebay in the next year and new headlights.
Pics of the close to finished product will be up tommorrow after a wash and some pissing with the bumper again.
But bipipes are freezing cold compared to the hot pipes in so its doing its job, should yeild some good results at the track as by the end of my run the iats where way higher by the end of my run due to heat soak. Also will be rigging up a sprayer from the headlight washer sprayers.

Little installed love...Gotta figure how i'll mount the grills (minus the zip ties) going to probably hack the euro plate area out for more air flow...Did a few pulls, definately makes a little better power up top (heat soak in one gear is still bad with stock intercoolers and 2x the boost) and REALLY can tell doing back to back runs, very consistant.
plus it looks kind of mean :D

The fight never ends with this car...no start condition, looks like its either the temp sensor causing an issue, or the crankshaft position sensor(fuel pump priming getting a couple pops, then randomly it starts and runs fine, or wont rev)...Got the crank sensor ordered and disconnecting the temp sensor today (believe that should tell me which it is) Cheap issue, but frustrating.

New wheels enroute, along with a rear diff refresh kit, and matching motul for the gear box. Hearing way to many bad things about redline...makes me paranoid

It's been awhile and the S has been through some crap lately...First it was running great then this happened...

Went to the track with the interior mostly stripped out...hit the two step and BANG! axle pulled out of the cup, broke one bolt, bent 2, and the rest must have backed out...(my bad). Well found out that my radiator fan had contacted my radiator and shot a fan blade into the end tanks. So new radiator and fan, plus axle, plus axle cup. While I hobbled her back together for a wedding lets get this montage started....
new Wheels

Checking fitment...had to open up the fenders and cut back the fender liner to fit the 9" WIDE wheels...

I made a promise that I had to keep to my buddy, He wanted my S4 in his wedding photos as he's a gear head and wanted a new school old school thing. I barely made that promise, but she rolled

And of course, the old school gearhead groomsmen laughing at my problems...

She's going to Rumble in the Stalks, but first gotta fix a few little problems including a slightly crushed fuel supply line, Is an A4's fuel supply the same as an S4's? OR Is anyone good at bending hard lines?
Im looking at nothing right now planned besides a new transmission as I've had it with the hard shifting, and having to be nice to it and it also has 180k on that trans. So an Advance Automotion Rebuilt and Upgraded transmission to deal with my lead foot hard shifting ways.
