Any word on what kind of $$$$$$ they're asking?
I wondered what might happen to some of the track(s) now that Gardner moved up to Pres. of IHRA.

Interesting? Do you know if that would include the property with the house on the SE corner?

House is owned by someone else. If someone don't buy it im sure some investor will come in and it will be a trailer park within two years.

That sounds cheap for 68 acres. Land alone going for 10k an acre = 680,000 just in land.

Yep, 68+ acres on 3 parcels with a couple so-so structure? Land in Johnson/Linn county is bringing crazy money, not sure If BlackHawk is though.
Down side would be running it, instead of being freed up to enjoy owning/racing there.

In order to buy the place you need to pay less then farm value. I was told it by a reputable source that's how they priced it was at farm value. We all know 50 years of oil and gasoline is not farmable soil.

lets hope it never turned into a cornfield.
i guessing zoning and the permit to build a noisy venue like a drag strip is not easy. so lets hope someone keeps it running or it may be hard to ever get it back.
the deery brothers used to own it before Gardner ?

It was owned by the Klemmes before Gardner. That track was happening back then, and I believe it was because of the owners at that time is the reason behind it. I remember going to what use to be the "ALL NIGHT STREET DRAGS" back in early 2000s staging would be packd and run all the way out to the entrance and we would race until 4 am. You were lucky to get 3 hits at most in on those nights, but it was a blast. But another reason was it was a IHRA track back then and NHRA wasn't fucking everyone with their retarted rules and fees. You could run what ever tire you wanted at the night races etc. I am all about big safe, but I strongly feel that NHRA is killing the sport, the track and the racers across the country. Micro managing is never good.

Tax records show the parcel is worth about $82k, but that's just the track parcel. First and smaller House and land parcel near-by is $110,000. Second house and parcel were tax appraised at about $170k. Both are independent of the track's LLC and are private owners from what I can tell. This was from Black Hawk County's Beacon site.

That's weird because there's no hose on the property. There is house on the cornering neighbors property.

Whatever is on them, they are classified as 'dwelling', which on the Johnson county website means it would be 'potentially' livable. Otherwise it typically says 'structure'. I honestly didn't pay attention to the houses on the way up, and I haven't been to the track in the 2 years since I've moved to Des Moines.

Corner of Bennington road and Waverly Rd, north of Cedar Falls, of course, if anyone is bored. (I) tool will get you to the tax assessment.

CEDAR FALLS RACEWAY
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT FOR 2014
Ownership Change to Take Place in Next 90 Days
Cedar Falls Raceway will be open for 2014 and beyond and under new direction of Justin and Joe Kruse. The Kruse family is no strangers to drag racing and business operations as they have been around drag racing for many years and also currently own and operate a bar and grill. Justin Kruse also worked for a short period at Cedar Falls Raceway. ...
“We are happy that Justin and Joe will be operating and owning the facility said, Scott Gardner, they have a great passion for our sport and want to take CFR to the next level.” Both Dan Driscoll and Scott Gardner will remain active in assisting the new owners in a variety of areas to continue good operations.
We are super excited to have this opportunity and look forward to working with Dan and Scott along with meeting the racers and fans and continuing to make CFR the place to race and be” said Justin Kruse.
Cedar Falls will celebrate 50 years of operations in 2014 and will be sanctioned with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and continue to host the Night of Fire, Terry Stumpf Memorial Spectacular, Midnight Mania, Mopar Max and more. The 2014 bracket race program will remain virtually unchanged with classes, entry fees and payouts remaining the same as 2013 with several 2-day race events planned.
The complete 2014 Schedule of Events is expected to be released in the next few days. Additionally a “Meet and Greet and 2013 Awards Gathering” is being planned. Watch this website for more information.

Change can be good, but if your making some correlation between the new owners and Oblahblah, that track is fucked.
