3.4 AND 100 shot? That blower alone can make some ridiculous power.

dual power adders, seems to be a cobra thing

I think it needs like 8 more power adders!

seems like a lot of money to only be 9.7. Shouldn't this car be a lot quicker?

Theres defiently people going faster with alot less. Shit I was thinking people were running 9's with stock blower and nitrous. I know allgo's cobra was blower only with a twin screw like that and it ran in the 8's.

Kitch, did you see how it left? I know old people that can fuck harder then that car leaves. Th400,converter,trans break will fix that right up.

That mph should be good enough for very low 9's on a good launching car. I've been in the 8's with less than 150 mph many times on a full pass

324 cubic inches/5.3 liters and 25psi is a decent amount of boost. If you compare that to an 5.3 ls motor running 25psi I think an ls motor would be trapping at least that speed and without nitrous. and I would think the ported ford heads would flow better and make more power vs the same cubes ls motor running the same boost.
but thats a lot of bench racing math

Depends on how efficient whatever is making that 25 psi of boost is.
What is the car making for power? That 60' is impressive considering IRS & 6speed.

Here is what a properly set-up BONE STOCK long block with a big whipple S/C and an auto runs. 8.70@159mph plus. Not to shabby..

Theres alot to be said for engineering a combo on paper, but you definetly over simplified the entire thing. That car looks like a fully equiped streeter which puts it in the 3500-3600 lb category if Im not mistaken, and a 1.5x 60' for a car that traps 148+ isnt that good. yeah he might be pushing the trans/axles strength at that power and weight. but so many other things come into play beside whats mentioned to compare apples to apples.

That cobra is a beast. Might not be the quickest at the track, but I've seen videos of it working turbo vette's on the street. Hooking a thousand whp on the street! To each is his own... Flame on

Harold is an old DSM guy so that shows he knows a lot ;) He has been running that combo and tweaking it for quite a few years now without throwing a bunch of new parts on it, etc. Practice makes perfect.

Aint that the truth, I picked up .2 in the 1/8th and alot more in the 1/4 with my car in the last couple seasons without changing the setup much at all. Its the small things that add up eventually, seems to me this 9.7 pass is just a guy with alot of money in a street car and decided to take it to the track once to see what it can do. not a well sorted out car by any means.
and yes Harold probably does have some secrets in that car, as do most people who care about their ET, how much you wanna bet he didnt find that ET on a dyno?

Yeah, Harold's car is/was a freak. Factory stock motor and eventually he bolted on a 4.0 liter whipple. Trapped over 160 mph if I recall correctly.
It was also lightened a lot. Oh, and he had fuel line that he got from me in a trade for my current lower pulley setup so that HAD to make him at least somewhat faster.
That car first posted was limited by the IRS in the car is my guess. Can't get real nuts on those regardless of how much you build them (in a cobra, that is.)

I know its no where near what an auto solid rear car would be, I just thought the IRS with 6 speed and that much power would be quicker. Is this the 6 speed irs cobra record or just a random video?

It's alot trickier than it looks to get an IRS 6spd car to work correctly. The car probably weighs closer to 3800lbs in full trim.
9's in a stick car with synchros is a pretty decent feat no matter what. The more power you make, the more aggressive each gear is and each shift becomes. Soon you are talking slipper clutches and dog ringed tranny's, blah blah.
If the guy used a two step and powershifted he may have been able to hit bottom 9's, but likely shit would have blown apart. If you want to be a real race car, get an auto!
If I touch 9's with my setup I'll be happy as a pig in shit.
