I said break in, i didn't say i'd be pussing footing it. i plan on loading up the engine pretty good. i do have to take it easy on the clutch, clutch manf says 500 mile break in. i am going to run 91 octane for a while and then switch back to e85.

Just get that footwork figured out and you'll be golden. I don't know that I've ever trapped better than 133ish. You not trying to run a ridiculous amount of boost through that 2.3 like I was is probably helping your top end. That's a solid low 10-second trap speed though! Nice work man.

Also Talcot went over 170 with stock navigator heads and block, in a very streetable full weight street car, he may have even done that with 17" radials on it a few times. There are stock mod motor block and heads running well into the 6's at over 200mph. yeah those may be extreme examples but there are plenty of stock mod motors out there making stupid power

Allgos car ran like a raped APE for what it was, 179mph and bottom,bottom 8s, gotta give props where they are due, heck Im the LS guy...lol when you take into consideration the weight of the car and driver, and the cu in, that car was fast.

nothing wrong with blowing up parts, especially with a car that fast. im not bashing you or your build. others are implying that these 170+ mph ford motors are bulletproof in nearly stock form when the most likely case is that the motor was probably completely torn down and built carefully with all the right parts which happen to include stock heads and crank. and if you went through a couple motors then that just means the mod motor route also takes a lot of time, money and effort. not that chevy is any better at that level.

i am a shit ton slower with way less power. but ls1 heads were never removed. same head gasket gm put on it on the assembly line. the oil pan would have never came off if i didn't need to weld an oil return bung on it. i trapped 139mph with it @ 12psi . i don't know how far i could've pushed it. others have pushed them a lot higher. I preferred to keep it together so I could sell it. sold it a few weeks ago. rx7 with the cage 2900lbs + 215 for me. really not that light compared to some fox bodies

My mods are listed all over the internet, its a stock shortblock 5.3, stock heads, only thing done to the motor: gt2-3 cam, arp head studs, good pushrods/valve springs, ls9 gskets, its a precision 7675 turbo with a powerglide and ptc stall, 3.50 rear gear in a 9" and 4 link. 24lbs of boost

Skinnies still has that motor/setup in his LTD. Ryan (MaxxMitchell on ls1tech) helped build and tune the car. He is the one who tuned my car. Ryan said they were building a TT setup for Skinnies' notch. I thought it was running already, but there hasn't been anything posted around on it. The stuff those guys have done with stock shortblocks is impressive. Ryan's 3rd Gen Firebird runs on 16 injectors and two PCM's. Out of boost it sips 87 octane and switches to E85 when it transitions into boost.

Anyway, sounds like they are going to be back on top of the stock shortblock record here soon.

Yeah we've had this discussion before. That car has a cam, arp head studs, good pushrods/valve springs, ls9 gskets, which means not a bone stock longblock. Yes, it is fast, no denying that, but the link I gave is for an unopened Mod motor longblock in the ORIGINAL car it came in. Show me an UNOPENED(which means the cam it was born with BTW, valve springs, pushrods, etc..)longblock LS running what that Cobra ran in an F-body or Corvette and color me impressed. SMDH....

I'll be honest, on my old car, the difference between the 150 and 2xx shot wasn't very noticeable. 100 to 150 was night and day. Maybe it was just me. That car ran way faster then it ever should have considering the hodgepodge of parts, no tuning, stock suspension and trans and rear. Could of had something to do with the fact that every time it went down the track, it was violent and drove like crap. I guess at a certain "shot" level, it all just feels like its going to blow up.

Kid I sold it too pretty much tore the crap out of everything except the body on it. Blew the motor and then put in a new motor, didn't time it correctly and jumped time when he tried his first start so he bought another head and threw it on then melted a piston in that motor a few weeks later. Guy that bought it from him found the kid cut the knock sensor so it'd quit pulling timing and he could raise the boost.

Anyway the guy that has it now has pretty much completely revamped it. Fresh motor, fixing the few cosmetic issues it had, and he repainted the engine bay. He also replaced the entire harness. I wish I had more pictures but I lost them with my old phone, every now and then he updates me. When I got my insurance check for my zx6r I offered him $6k for it but he has more then that into it now and it's pretty much done at this point.

It did feel good to get my fz1 into the 10's. I think Lance's cobra would have cracked the 10's if he didnt spin through 3rd but I think your right about no cars hit 10's that night.
