Finally another fellow evo owner. What are you goals for the car and where are you located?

czarcasm
04-12-2013, 12:00 AM
The setup is capable of easy 500whp but whats holding me back is the 6 speed trans. If your familiar with the MR trans its that they cramped 1 more gear in the same trans housing as the 5 speed. The first 3 gears crack after 400wtq

Im in waterloo

Why do people put the their exhaust out the hood?

Sleepy
04-12-2013, 06:49 AM
Its just the wastegate. It will only be loud as hell hah.

Sweet car, love the exhaust manifold.

Evo seems to be the least common tuner car around here. I never see them with the 6spd. Cool build, the dump out the hood is weird, but its not mine haha.

czarcasm
04-12-2013, 10:16 AM
I wanted something different done with the wastegate/dump tube, a lot of people run it back into the downpipe. With the electrical boost controller I can adjust when it opens, its at 17 psi now, and if youre thinking this thing is loud, its not until it opens! LOL

Drifte
04-12-2013, 10:18 AM
I ran open dump tube for a couple years, after I ran it back into the exhaust I really enjoyed the car more (just preference). I got to hear the exhaust note change out the back instead of just a loud "SCHHHHHHHHHHHHH." That and I like to hear the turbo.

czarcasm
04-12-2013, 10:41 AM
After a couple of runs at the racetrack I might change my mind. 3 inch straight back sounds good too and like you said, hear the turbine sound

Sleepy
04-12-2013, 11:46 AM
My car has an open dump under the car. I have not got around to running it into the exhaust. Its not bad for a while, but I also prefer to hear the turbo/engine instead of the exhaust rush.

BGjohnson
04-13-2013, 06:05 PM
I like hearing the engine and potential detonation. I've done noisy turbo cars, so I still like hearing open downpipes :)

Nice Evo, I want one bad for a DD.

czarcasm
04-14-2013, 06:53 PM
Well after some research I changed my mind about the open dump, its going to be routed into the downpipe. I got a boost controlled cutout on the way, opens at 6 psi. Anybody run these on theirs?

Sleepy

No, however I like the idea of them. Is it an agp?

BGjohnson

They can get a bit carbon clogged and not open correctly. But if it opens on a regular basis, you might be OK.

Why not just run a regular 3" exhaust with a recirculated dumptube? A 3" exhaust will flow enough up to around 700whp...so an open dump is just going to be noisy lol. Maybe for track days...but i'd just drop the cat-back and run open downpipe then :)

czarcasm
04-16-2013, 07:51 PM
I do have a regular 3" exhaust and I will route the dump tube in the downpipe

Just got back from the dyno, made 407awhp and 360wtq on a Mustang dyno, if you guys are familiar they are 20% less accurate than dynojet. My tuner said it makes close to 500

Mustangs a good dyno, if you want big numbers put it on the dynojet for the bragging rights. I'd say the mustang is real world power, and good power at that. Congrats.

good work. the mustang dyno is not less accurate though. you probably mean the mustang dyno reads lower than the dynojet. most would say the dynojet is less accurate and reads artificially high.

Thats the thing, after doing some research people say mustang dynos are 15 to 20% off from a dynojet, but either way Im happy with the numbers. Will be going back in 2 months after I upgrade the FMIC and Piping, double pumper or walbro 400 with E85. Some of our corn fuel!!

Doing research? I don't know why everyone thinks all these dynos read low or high. If the dyno is set up properly it shouldnt be more than a 5% difference. I noticed 5% from a mustang to a dynojet.

Good looking car you have. Throw e-85 in that thing and she will be a beast!

What offset did you go with? How tall are the tires? Make sure you have plenty of clearance on the rear trailing arm especially if you are airing those tires down a lot.

Plus 35 offset, 275/40/17 tires. The guy i bought the wheels from had slicks on em with same tire size, only with spacers in the front. Ill make sure to txt him and see how low he had the slicks aired to and if they rubbed in the rear. This saturday ill post more photos of the fender roll and wheel/tire install

Thank you!

Couldnt really get around to installing the wheels but I did have the tires mounted and balanced. Scariest sh*t just happened to me when I took them to a shop which will remain nameless. They mounted the tires fine but when they wanted to balance them he almost hammered a weight on the lip!!! I was watching him do the job from outside the building and noticed him grabbing a hammer and some weights, I said "hey, youre joking with those weights right???" he replied "You want the sticky weights on the inside of the rim?" "YES!!!". I can only imagine how it would look if I dropped them off :(... 'pro' shop in CF.

Well it was a ongoing issue from a month ago when my slave cylinder failed going from 1st to 2nd, i thought there wouldnt be any issues but all the runs i had there was a grind going into 2nd and 4th, than finally all the shifting got really hard. 6 speeds are weak out of the factory. Anybody who races them has issues.

I just scrolled thru my pages and i called this issue last winter

I ask because I was looking at one that was rebuilt my shep last year (just rebuild, not built). As it was whining and such, now the owner is selling the car, and I cant help but wonder if its a ticking time bomb for rebuild #2.

czarcasm

It has a rebuilt 6 speed right? I you were to get it what would your plans for it be? If its for auto x, you will be fine, if you want to build the motor for drag and street, i can show you pages and you will find information to stay away from 6 speeds and ACD system. You want a evo 8 rs, best evo to get. If i read more on this i wouldve stayed away from the MR but its too late now
