who did you ask? Hell there are only a few guys that have ran the class all the time and scotty, torrey, and me and nobody asked me shit..lol so no 29.5x 10.5 tires?
Mike@Salkowski-Motorsport
04-11-2013, 07:15 PM
We are trying to keep a level playing field, we allowed four link cars. The 28inch max diameter tire size will most likely stay for that reason.

Whats the hold up? I assume you guys don't like the 4 link part? I wouldn't know since I don't race, but just curious. Do any of the other racing groups require a minimum weight for a 10.5/DR car?

We'll be their on a 28 @ 3500lbs!!!lol

10.5 has no weight rules since all the tracks they usually race at dont have scales. Rules look good to me but I have been running 28's or 275's and know allgo has been on 29.5 for at least a year.. I dont know if mine will make the race date or not but I'd love to enter this event, I've been waiting for Tristate to have a 10.5 race for a long time! I'll leave mine setup at the standard SB weight according to 275 rules and probably run slicks.
Glad someone took initiative to get some more races figured out and have a payout with a little meat on it, I know people get sick of hearing payout payout payout all the time but honestly thats what it takes for people to show up that normally dont. You guys should talk to Christian about the 10.5 class and see if he needs a little help promoting that.

Hey Scott and everyone else SUPER thanks for showing support towards the event. For everyone else its going to take you guys to be supportive and quit your whining because the rules don't fit you perfectly I remember dealing with this shit when I ran the mud racing club up here and I'll tell you I'm not going to stand for it! I'm all ears if you have any suggestions but if you want to come at this with digs and insults go somewhere else.

We came up with rules that we believe will keep racing as fair as possible without the politics. A 28inch tire will be the equalizer in this race, we have a guaranteed purse so lets see who can take it home. For everyone else supporting this race we appreciate your dedication in keeping small tire racing alive in iowa..

Mike@Salkowski-Motorsport

One race for now. If we can get more people interested, possibly more. We need to see what the first race creates for turnout. That is why we need as much support on this first race as possible.

I figured that most people will have fresh machines in the early part of the season (June) also we get any later into the summer July and August who wants to stand out on that racetrack in the scorching heat if it was night racing I could see it work but with no lights there it pry wont happen. We talked about having a fall race as well but were worried about car count due to break downs just a theory...

Why doesn't Cassill want to put in lights? Not only would racers like it better but I would think it could draw a bigger spectator crowd on Friday or Saturday evenings.

Its not Cassil that doesn't want lights. When Reed Kuhlman built that track he told the neighbors that there will never be night racing because the neighbors were worried about noise. Don't know if it would work anyway at night with the corn fields next to the track and the dew settling in after dusk unless there were enough traffic to keep the track clear of dew. That was another concern I overheard once. I wish it was at night nothing better than that racing under the lights on Saturday night!

Went to Eddyville last weekend for their 10.5 race got rained out. Tried to test on Friday night never made a pass because of rain race was canceled. Didn't see any 10.5 cars down there probably got scared off by the rain. We will be at cedar falls Saturday Weather permitting hope to see some cars there and to help promote the Tristate June 8th race.
Also spoke with Bill Cassil about track prep and HE said they are stepping up their preparation specifically for the June 8th 10.5 cars on race day!

05-28-2013, 01:12 PM
Sounds good Andy, no way Im gonna be able to make it with my car.. I wish you guys the best with finding cars since it seems all the regulars are out for most the season if not permanently. I have no doubt that Tristate can be a good place to race for these cars, just needs the cars and track prep to justify it.
For those who whine about it, I read at the small tire events down south and possible at GLD the RACERS pay extra money themselves for the good VP track prep. I mean those who whine about track conditions in the first place should probably be bracket racing anyway.

Thanks scott that's some good info about the southern tracks. I know sometimes shit happens to guys cars hope to see you out later this year somewhere! Btw I never got back to you scott on the other thread we wound up hurting the dyno motor in the 2nd burnout at Tristate, ended up shattering #5 piston. so the spare speed pro stock rodded engine is in there now and a spare forged bottom end 5.3 is in the boring machine now.
Scott
05-29-2013, 11:20 AM
Yeah its getting rough out there paying for track stuff, even down south where its 10x more popular than it is here. Good to hear you got spare stuff to put it back together without all the stock parts. No reason I shouldnt be out later in the year tho. Good luck guys
