My sister's about to turn 16 so I'm trying to help find her a first car.
Despite teaching her to drive 5spd she still only wants an automatic /facepalm

Anyway, looking for something auto that runs and drives without major issues. Looking to spend around ~1k give or take. Nothing fancy, just something that has at least heat, and a good motor/trans. I can take care of any little things it needs.

Ideally would like something good on gas too. civics/cavaliers/geos/etc all are ideal.
let me know here what you have or you know of

I'd offer up the Protochicken, but it seems that she might not be able to handle the raw fury that the 1.8L puts out through it's testosterone drenched manual shifting trans to the wheels that put down the smack. Pity.

If she would drive 5spd, I'd totally force her to buy http://waterloo.craigslist.org/cto/3639445723.html

But speaking of the protochicken, when do you want to get doored?

Bastard. Both you and Gary have the same floormats. I should have never let him have those when I sold him his TA.

Underneath the rubber ones I have the original cloth ones that say 626. Fucking classic right there.

manuals are now okay, spent all night yesterday forcing her to drive my mazda around town and now what do you know - she isnt as opposed to a manual anymore.

Anyways, still looking for something, prefer not to spend more than 1500

I have the Accord. It has a vaccum leak of some sort so it idles a bit goofy but it drives pretty good. Has about 150K on it and a few rust spots and one decent sized hole above the bumper on the driver rear quarter and the ABS light is on (Who really needs ABS?). Not really sure if I want to sell it for sure but I don't exactly need it per say. I think KBB is around the range you are looking for. I'll have to seriously think about how much I need it.

I can't believe you don't want the Protochicken. $800 and I'll even put new windshield wipers on it.

bump, looking much more desperately for something now.. my mom's jimmy needed the intake gasket replaced and after replacing it, upon the test drive it started knocking, likely from coolant in the oil what washed out the bearings while it sat the last 2 months while it needed fixed. That coupled with a weak transmission it isn't worth fixing.

So now I'm trying to find my mom a new vehicle with the money that was supposed to be my sister's first car, anything is fine as long as it's solid mechanically. She prefers a truck/SUV but will consider anything.

The accord is out due to a vacuum leak that I'm thinking is the master cylinder at this point. It will most likely sit in front of my house until I get sick of seeing the damn thing...
