Interesting to see if it will sell better than the Pontiac counterpart. I'd imagine it's going to start out in the upper 30s lower 40s as far as price.

That's exactly what I thought. I don't see it selling very good. Especially with such a generic name. "SS". I really wish GM would get their stuff together.

Look, it's a spruced up 98 chevy malibu...With no manual option.
It has potential, but they didn't take the idea all the way through.
Will it be cool in a few years? Hell yes, because you won't expect it. But for a new car, nobody will want it.

Bla, bla at least they can move a two ton pig without a charger :) G8s seem to have a few to many issues for me to want to pick one up. Got to get rid of that DOD and lots of control arm and wheel shake issues. I'm not so sure about the 6l80 either as RPM won't even build them due to more agressive trans tunes taking out the clutches fast.

Trust me I think the Coyote motor is a fantastic motor and I'm not a big fan of the LS3. (I am of the lS6) I've almost pulled the trigger on a 2011 mustang GT twice, but have you driven a 2011+ mustang by yourself and then again with 3 people in it? The car goes from Wow to OK. Now consider that the SS is sort of built off of the Camaro platform and it will weigh at least 400 lbs more than the Mustang and it just won't perform as well as the LS3 6.2.

No you shouldn't be, I'm just saying that's how slow a SS or Camaro would be if it had a 5.0 Coyote in it, unimpressive. The Camaro and more than likely the SS are overweight pigs.

Posted about this quite a few months back... From what I heard (from reputable sources) they never really planned to release it to the public. They were only suppose to be a PPV but sales were HORRIBLE (duh, this cant compete with the Ford Interceptors) after a while it was decided they needed a small redesign and then they'd be released as the "SS Sedan". I personally love these cars!! They make horrible police pursuit vehicles but they are pretty damn fun cars!!
It was funny seeing "G8" all over the back side of the interior panels the first time I tore one of them apart. The suspension on these things is STIIIIIFF, I was pulling one in the shop a while back and hit a rock that couldn't have been any larger than a marble and you'da thought it was a damn speed bump or something! I also love the paint, nothing super special, just a metallic black but... we got to see one before they got wrapped with the white and they were gorgeous. So, in summation, I finally found a Chevy that I like.

Please tell me you're kidding about custom hand built? I needed a good laugh this morning. They made 10,000 of them in 96...As for the infamous 320hp recall, at least Ford made it right. The Zl1 rated at 580hp and can barely outrun an NA SS Camaro?! Better recall those too, cause that's pathetic! I guess your 2002 Z06 was custom hand built and extremely limited quantity, because they made less of those than 96 Cobra's....?

'95 was the first year of the 'Vented' Opti so the moisture could actually escape. The '93/'94 cars had the worst problems with it. I never had an issue with my '97 for the 4 years I had it.

When you figure they were less than 2% of all 4.6's built that year, then yes, they are rare. Do you think they could have built 20,000 of them? No, they couldn't, the Italian foundry that build the blocks could barely keep up, the German company that made the valve springs actually held up production.
