OK so after I dyno'd just under 250whp N/A when I had my 3.0, my clutch started coming apart. And I had a leak in the rear main seal.

So this happened...

And I had a VQ35 put together.

.020 over bore with HP Pistons
ARP Headstuds
Polished/ balanced crank
Balanced Rods
Shot-peened/ glass-beaded rods
ACL Race Main & Rod bearings
ARP Main Studs & Rod Bolts
350z main studs
NISMO 350z Thermostat
New water pump
New Valve Seals
All new O rings, seals, and gaskets
All new timing chain, tensioners, guides
JWT S1 (260/260 10.8/10.8)
Pathfinder TB (70mm)
"SSIM" (02 Maxima upper intake plenum gutted completely on the inside, able to support 300whp N/A)

What separates this setup from other 3.5 swaps is that I am still using my 3.0 heads. Ported, polished, 5 angle valve job, and when put on a 3.5 block, the CR is increased to 11.8-12.0:1.

IDK how much power it's making since I have been testing the nitrous setup lately. For N/A It's stock timing stock rev limit ~11.9 AFR or so, on spray the AFR is <10.0 and the timing is retarded four degrees.

It was my mistake, I didn't have a WOT switch for the nitrous and when I sprayed it. Jumping the solenoids left them on when I was slowing down and blipping the throttle to match revs while downshifting. Oh well fck it lesson learned.

VIP is dope. Maxima really isn't a VIP car. It's the first car I've ever built so my modding is not in any specific direction. (def not drag racing)

I like the VIP and stance thing. The stretched tire and some of the wheels are gross. Its definitely form>function which is the exact opposite of trying to go faster. If you can look past that there is some level of quality and detail going into them. The wheels arent sticking out 4 inches and crushing the fenders. Sorry for getting off topic... again.

The VQ35 is completely fucked. Spun bearings grenaded crank and bent rods. Got some fresh rods and pistons, rings, bearings, rod bolts, main studs, getting bored 40 over (~3.6L).

Horn automotive. Josh Silver recommended them so we will see what happens. It really sucks, I was ready to just enjoy the car and clean it up (fix the hood/bumper alignment/headlight aiming) so I'm kinda burnt up over it.

The V8 will make good power. You used to be able to buy a off the shelf supercharger kit for them. This setup easily could easily make 400 rwhp. Granted that's nothing compared to all all out 1JZ swap that can make 700-1000. The worst part about this platform is the CPU is encrypted so any tuning has to be done with a piggy back system or a complete aftermarket system.

Most 2nd generation GS's that get a 1JZ swaps were 2JZ cars. Very few owners use a 1UZ are a core for a 1JZ swap. They also swap transmissions as the 5-speed auto doesn't handle high horsepower builds.

The craze a year or 2 ago was doing LS swaps. :eek: :)

Lextreme.com has a lot of resources for boosted 1UZs. My problem is the transmission. It's been a limiting factor in the Maxima and it is the limiting factor in a GS/JZS chassis. The Aristo 2JZ/auto combination is a lot stronger.

No idea man. I had a 3.0 with cams and stock compression make 250whp on a heartbreaker. The extra displacement and compression and a bigger plenum could help.

12.5 AFR with 91 is where I'll start. As for timing, I'm not sure, there are a lot of variables at play there.

A few videos. Startup/idle, and a couple of pulls. Car is still untuned, keeping things very conservative for now. Videos are short and have no extra BS so enjoy.

Had a couple issues with the remote mounted coilpack dropping spark on one of the rear cylinders. The plenum is so big we had to remote mount it, and the spark plug wire was arcing one of the hardlines on the firewall. (DUMB) Anyways the insulation was improved, no other issues to report.
