Domestic Disturbance

I got another mustang... from the 80s... probably a terrible idea. Its an 84 SVO 5 speed. 53k original miles. The interior is almost mint as far as I can tell. Other than the mechanical issues brought up in my other thread, its a pretty sound little machine. Rides really quiet and smooth. The car is gunmetal but the pictures arent the greatest. I'll get some better ones later.

Nice! That could be a fun little handler. Toss some corners at that guy and have a blast.

Now that garage is starting to look good, full of Mustangs. You have become wise with age, it happens. Nice looking SVO!

Those are cool cars. My first car was almost a t bird turbo coupe, but the deal fell through. Had I got it I would have started much eariler tinkering I think, but man those were a lot of car to have a turbo 4 in.

I went and checked that car out a few times after I sold mine thinking about buying it. After owning one for almost 10 years kinda missed having one around. It looked like the paint would shine up nicely with a good buff. One thing to be aware of is that I used to see that car sitting just outside of town for years and it never once looked like it moved, then one day it showed up at Junge's. So the injectors probably need a good going over from sitting among other things. Another problem area on these is the valve seals, generally they will start to puff a little smoke, but its only like a 4 hour job and you can get the good seals from Ford for around 40 dollars. Probably do not want to try and run parts store seals, the Ford seals for the turbo engine are made to take the extra heat abuse and I can not ensure the regular ones are. You should probably do a timing belt also.

I had an 86 T bird turbo, definitely a big car for that engine, fun car though.

Svo should be high 14's stock when running right.

So you can go buy another Rustang, but you can't come out to get Chocolate Wasted with me on a perfectly good Friday night. #deadtome

After changing out the rotted plugs and cleaning the intercooler this car definitely pulls harder up top. The konis ride nice but still doesn't handle anything like the gt because of its suspension work.
This is the car from junge. The underside is going to get por15 and definitely do a good buff job. Its cloudy but theres still a lot of paint left to work with.

We got bored and Josh buffed a quarter on the car which came out amazing. Also started working on cleaning up the wheels to get that polished face instead of just cloudy. I should get some before and after shots.
Here's just few better pics from earlier.

That is in really nice shape. I remember we were checking it out at the car show this summer when junge brought it out. The seats look cool.

Ya I'd really like to have those seats in my GT but not from this car at least.
Josh Silver did a good initial buff job on the car tonight, and I followed it up with a quick wax. Got most of the molding and spoilers to look black and not gray and really brought the paint alive. This car is a solid 20 footer now minus that drivers side fender. Need to get some heavier wax and start going over it with that by hand. Also get those foggy wheels to clear up. This camera phone is super hazy which is frustrating when trying to show off how well this turned out.

Like in car or rolling video? Not much to see or hear; factory intake, down pipe and cat, with an oddball exhaust. No boat controller or gauge minus the factory stuff.
Anyone have any opinions on exhaust? I was thinking the stinger kit seemed too be the way to go but don't know any other options

The factory boost is pretty astounding, and the option for low octane 7psi is awesome. As far as exhaust its hard to screw up the sound with a turbo on there. IMO build it, I bet it sounds awesome. If you want to do aluminum Trevor has a couple mufflers leftover from a kit he made and didnt use.

The Ford 2.3T sounds like a tractor with the wrong exhaust. I always went for sound over performance and ran a cutout when I wanted performance. Heres a clip of my old car.

Oops did not work, lol
Ported E6 Manifold, T3/T4 50 trim, 3" Downpipe, into a improved split, into Flowmasters. People hate on the Flowmasters, but they sound so much better and with a cutout you do not have to worry about any performance loss and still get to sound good.

Ya thats a neat little option.
That flowmaster sounds good but possibly a little too aggressive for what I'm going for. I really want to keep it as stock as possible. The muffler now actually sounds cool but its not what I'd like it to be quality wise. If my long term plans were to keep it it'd be a different story, but for now its just something fun to do and I feel like the car deserves it somehow. I hate seeing cool cars that are neglected. I must admit I like this car more than I thought I would.

This is what happens when I spend too much time away from CR. I knew about the new Rustang, just didn't realize the SIN of purchase is now over-cast by a larger SIN...selling thine soul via LS1 removal from his life....again.

that ls1 was becoming a headache in a quick way. I traded it for the SVO + cash.
Haven't had a party at the shop in probably 6 months. The beer pong table is covered in 5.0 parts. Probably have another one here soon.

Throw an IRS in it with some stock take off suspension parts and make it look like it came from Ford that way!
It would be an awesome car and you would enjoy the ride

She's staying all stock, minus a clutch and possible exhaust. Surprised more people don't build these though; super simple, cheap to make fast, strong engine, and rwd.
