Anybody? I also want to find out what my car weighs before I put it on a diet this Winter. If all else fails, I will just go to the local DOT weigh station on I80 I suppose.

That would be a heck of alot easier thats for sure, scaling takes some time specially if you have to set it up in someone elses garage

Anyone ever taken their car to the CAT scales at the truck stops around Des Moines?

That's exactly what I did yesterday. I first went to the Love's station on Hickman and I35 near the Menards, but they said it was under minimum weight. I drove over to the Pilot or whatever it is on Douglas and I35, and they were able to weigh it. Again it was under minimum weight so they couldn't give me a printout, but at least they told me it weighed 1920 lbs. Both places wanted $10 for a single weigh, but since they couldn't provide a printout for me it was free.

Nice, I think I will take mine over tonight to see what she weighs. Did you have to get out of the car and hit the button there? I was too nervous to try it one night I stopped there to check it out, ha.

Yep, park the entire car on a single scale section, get out and push the Call button (definitely a reach). Not sure what the minimum weight is though, so you might get charged $10.

I think the min. is above 2000. I have done it at the pilot and they gave me a print out. They look at you strange and ask if you are in the military. I have also gone to a quarry which works well. Most the scales go by 20lb increments.
