you're being fancier than you have to be. the new vbulletin software makes it easy. just post the url in video tags . don't use embed or iframe tags. just click the insert video icon and paste the url

when was the last time Eddy B ran a bike down the track? im assuming a few years ago when he wasn't an "old dog"?

edit: shifting a car into the right gear and pushing a button or just pushing down on a lever are waaaayyy different

Ok since I was just having fun with Batwood and Logan, and you want to change my mind....find a stick car in our zip code that is fast than...I bet I could search the web and find a dozen or two fast stick cars out there, none in this Hillbilly state thats for sure...what happen at the manual shoot out? wheres the fast manuals you speak of? Ok Ryan your 10.9 or Caseys...well we wont go there...lol Oh and my idea of a fast car is unlike your idea...show me a lagit fast stick car in our area...I think Allgo had that under controll with his vette...Jesse dont count he was out of the zip code...and shifting on a Dyno in our zip code dont count...It was a jokeing comment...but Yes I do think sticks are for high school kids, honda and import owners or Auto Cross guys! So carry on to 100 pages....But I do feel honored that creeping facebook comments makes a headline topic...Thank you!!!

I think Ryan just likes to stir the pot a little. His second job is drama queen ;) This topic is just like the "street car" topic and to each is own. I wouldn't give up having a manual in my vette even if it nocked off two seconds in the 1/4 mile though. Out of what brings me joy from the car a time slip just isn't a big enough deal, but I actually drive the damn thing a lot (when it runs ha). I've thought about having two seperate drivetrains, but f that have you ever worked on a vette :)

A consistant mid 9 car would be good....as for your 8s comment, you keep that thought, thats how I like it!

Heck I'll be happy if the damn thing stays in one piece so I don't have to work on it. My c6z drivetrain parts will do much better than the old c5 stuff, but it ain't no dana 60. A 8 second pass in a manual vette would have god behind the wheel and jesus would be praying for the drivetrain down the entire track. I'd be happy if the car some day ran a high 9 in a full weight street vette with a fat driver and couple hundred extra pounds of turbo crap in front . If it did I'm sure it would mph higher than a 9 should need in most cases as I'd need the power advantage to make up for my poor driving. The car would probably need a tire/wheel swap, stereo out, etc. Can't be missing gears, shifting slow, fighting clutches, etc if it's going to happen. I'd say mid 10's would be cool with the drag radials I run on the street and the car doesn't have a cage and never will so the amount of practice runs might be small unless you keep it to 1/8 mile.

This car has always fought me at the 1/4 mile and it frustrates me. Back in the old DSM days I was running quick times for the mph, but not so much in the vette. Heck I even did great with the S4 as far as stock times go. It seems like the clutch in the vette was draging a little preventing/blocking quick shifts every time I've been to the track with it and I never really spent the time to fix it as it drove around fine on the street. Years ago I broke the texterila clutch on a dead hook with drag radials (lucky it didn't come apart) and even that thing shifted like crap. The spec stage 3+ drove a little better on the street, but also had issues (uneven pressure plate contact) with draging. I really hope the twin disk works out a lot better overall as people have had decent luck with the RXT. At this point who knows if my drivetrain curse will be broken. Vettes tend to work the syncros hard since the inertia of the clutch disks AND driveshaft come into play.

Vette IRS's are a bitch to mod since it's part of the rear, but with enough money people can do anything. Auto corvettes seem to go way faster, break MUCH less, are dead consistant, etc. You can be sure my car would have an auto if it's purpose was more of a 1/4 mile car. I'd pick a different car for that though to begin with. I'd want something that IF I need to work on it I wouldn't shread my hands every time I open the hood :) and I don't want to have to mess with the drivetrain so much. At the high power levels that some of these 10.5 guys are at they need to spend more time perfecting the launch with little tweaks here and there rather than worrying about banging gears and broken clutches/drivelines.

I just don't think manual transmissions are for the track anymore with all the advancements in automatics for track. What do I know though...

There is some badass manual trans for drag racing that arent violent and in-consistant, but they arent allowed in hardly any classes and the good clutches are a major PITA requiring attention every pass just about.. Id love to run a GF5 or lenco in my car but its against the rules.

If you actually make alot of power its not boring to drive with either trans, my car has no chance of ever getting traction on the street I dont care how fast your going, even with straight up slicks you better be on your game if you want to put the pedal down at 60 mph cuz its gonna be all over the place!

I've had a car with a stall and shift kit. It was pretty fun, but I didn't like the lack of control I had in the car, a few times when it down shifted passing somebody it surprised me and sent me looking at the ditch. I've heard full manual bodies are more fun.

Still like my sticks, but after a long day of a cruise or at the track it would be nice to just stick it in D and go home.

everyone is entitled to their opinion on the auto vs manual debate. personally putting a manual in my car was the best thing i did to it. it literally made the car. i think autos are great in pickups, drag cars and daily drivers. but you just cant beat a stick in a quick street car. i love rowing those gears

i prob could have had an auto in my truck for literally half the price, and run faster. but i never cared much about setting the strip on fire; i wanted something different, and now i'm fairly certain i have the only Ram50 with a turbo and 6 speed. not everyone can be the fastest; shoot for making yourself happy- it'll work out a lot better.
