View Full Version : what if I gave you $35,000

What would you do with $35k to spend on a car or mods and you had to spend it all on car stuff.

1. Buy a new car? if so what?
2. Buy used car(s)? with what mods done already or which mods would you add on with the rest of the cash?
3. put all of it into your current car? what mods?

My 83 cadillac, aluminum Gen IV ls engine, tt's, 6l80e, bagged on stock wheels, repainted, and restored interior.... or a 69 camaro/chevelle/gto, or a blown c5z.

Can I spend it on bikes? If not, I'd probably buy a clean starion/conquest shell and build a monster turbo lsx setup in it. Not sure I could spend the whole 35k doing it, probably could.

Otherwise, I'd probably drop a bunch of it on a new R1 or maybe ZX14R and still buy a clean conquest/starion shell and do a 4g63/t56 swap and do a simple build, fp green, e85, dsmlink, etc etc - just a moderate build for 400-450whp. Perfect for just a fun street car. I'd also buy a lot of snack pack puddins'

Finish my vette. Do slightly larger turbos on the S4 or work on a ls swap w/turbo in a 5 series BMW or something like that. Get something older, lighter and with enough room to work on shit for more of a drag type car. A shop to help keep all this crap. I think I went over:)

Finally get the chance to put twins in the 408. Swap the block out for an iron eagle. Redo the interior, to ms3, upgrade the rearend for 9 inch ends and 33 spline axles. Should have enough left over for a nice DD.

I would buy a cheap daily driver (been looking at used 1st gen durangos). 4k
Trailer 2k
Find a clean 2nd gen neon 5k
Built Engine, rwd trans, adapter, rear end 15k
Shop to perform the work 5k
Paint and aftermarket body parts 4k

Set up to run 9s with no loss of comfort features.
Something no one else would do/has done.

Or

Buy a nice used 1st gen Viper and spend the rest of the money on insurance.

1st option my Evo X: Build motor/head, cams, fp-black BB, all supporting mods for around 600whp, nice wheels for once, really good coilovers, wingless trunk, probably get lots of carbon fiber pieces. Don't know if I could spend 35k....but depending on the motor/wheels/suspension it may be possible i guess. Could just have it built somewhere and that'd cover it.

2nd option: 2008+ BMW 335xi, pay for the Vishnu single turbo kit, all supporting mods, make around 650whp on e85 and have a luxury car. This would probably be most likely and would definatly take up the 35k.

Put $35k down on one of two cars:
2013 gt500
2012ish GTR.

Just do basic bolt-ons over time. I actually think the gt500 is realistic 5-7 year goal. Probably either sell the red car or or just make it more of a dedicated race car.

That said, because nobody has asked, can I have $35k? I'll put an Automods Inc sticker on the car somewhere..

I don't think I would use the full amount on my car to get to where I want. Build the motor 2.3 stroker with a FP green or BBK turbo. Get around 550 tq 500 hp well before the curve. Get some nice aero work done. Wheels would either be advan, volks or forgeline with some nice 295-305 rubber. I guess I could put a wide body kit on it but not some ricey crap.

Then with the rest I think I would buy a miata and drop a ls1 or coyote in it.

I would build my 88 the way I want, between body work/paint(stock black), lift(9.5" Full Throttle Suspension), chrome and powdercoat(on suspension stuff), wheels and tires(22x14 Fuel Hostage Chrome or XD Diesels Chrome(on truck in pic) and 35x14.50R22 Superswamper Iroks), 6.0/4L80E swap, some form or stereo. Whatever I would have left I would put into my 04 crew cab that I dd.

haha just messing with you but u might want to sell it after you find out running 9s with the 4 cyl neon reliably without losing creature comforts probably won't happen even with $30k. a high powered 4 banger will always be laggy. But converting to rwd its a step in the right direction.

I'd build a FWD W body .... who am I kidding?

Fix the motor in the Shitstain and throw a decent whipple on it.
Finish my Powerstroke and throw a few things on it.
Get a mid-60's Deville Convertible.
Maybe another C4 Vette for a DD. LT4 or something this time.

Lotus Seven and Detomaso Pantera's are Ford powered. The Checker has always been GM powered so it'd just be natural IMO. I wouldn't mind owning a Marauder or Lightning though.

i hear you there, truck pricing is getting ridiculous. especially diesels . they need to go back to the basics. IMO a man's truck needs to do work. don't need no navigation, 100 way adjustable power seats, adjustable pedals, stability, traction control, etc. they are getting so tall and heavy. get rid of all that junk so you don't have to spend a life savings on something that is going to lose its value quickly. rwd no abs, no airbags ftw

Haha, I was in this situation a couple months ago after I sold my C6. Couldn't decide if I wanted an Evo, looked at a few older Vipers, debated getting another DSM and saving a bunch of money, etc. Ended up deciding on a 2007 Lotus Exige S and couldn't be happier.
