So I was installing new lines for the water feed to the turbo, and stripped out part of the thread into the block. I got the taps (plug and tapered) for retapping it, but was wondering if there were any suggestions as to a "proper" was to do this. The engine is still in the car btw.

I'm just having problems getting the tap to start threading. I am leading the the conclusion of making the hole bigger and tapping with a larger thread, but I'm sure thats not the ideal was to do this.

Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

i'd try tapping the same size first. just push in hard while turning the tap to get it to initially dig in. I wonder if using permatex water pump gasket maker would help seal damaged threads if they still leak. sometimes those things are hard to fix when in the car still.
