its rare cuz supras are waaaay more aerodynamic bro . if you would've hung out with tuner crowd since 2001 like me, you would know that.

Im saying wtf to the "foxbody can roll race a supra" comment.. IMO at this level engines are engines there is no magic in ANY of them! but for the sake of argument... I hate LS engines too

Did anyone miss that? .... Supra on 24lbs... That is low, C16 and 35lbs is were it should be. its not making 1000whp on 24lbs. 20lbs of boost on a 88mm 383 is a good amount but 24lbs though a 3.0L aint shit. Funny how videos get so miss leading its not even funny. There was a huge thread on how people see and veiw videos and dont know anything that really happend (traction, weather, race gas, pump gas, low boost, driver error) Obviously the person that made the video was the Mustang owne/Fan boy. At Least he told the truth in the video on the low boost supra setting.

Im trying not to be anyones fanboy here i dont know the 2 cars honestly and i love anything with a turbo on it, i was just stating the obvious here. It was a good race but we all know autos dont mph like stick cars, supras have one of the best gearing out their maybe thats the boost setting they agreed on and im sure the mustang runs better 1/4 times but will not take down a well done 80mm supra on the highway (160+ trap speeds) even my built viper wont take a well built one down not unless i made over 1100 and i would need race gas for that

ford's have tons of gear choices too 3.08 / 3.27 / 3.55 / 3.73 / 4.10 / 4.30 / 4.56 / 4.88 / 5.13 . and they are cheap which is why i have a ford rear in my car now .

my rx7 only had 4.10 or the 3.90, but the 3.90 uses a weaker pinion . i'm surprised nobody would step up and invest in making different gears for the rx7, I seen a few vendors look into it and decided not too after seeing the cost to develop gear sets.

the rotaries also rev really high so they can get through the traps pretty well by pushing the rpms.

That has to do with gears because....?

AutoMods

if your car is banging off the rev limiter through the traps, you need a higher gear. rotaries can rev really high, hence they don't have problems getting through the traps in 4th gear even with their low 4.10 gear . so a lot of them don't need to buy gears. now with my v8 in the same car, I was at 7k redline @136mph, no choice but to buy a higher gear. If I had 9k redline like a rotary I would be able to trap 175, same gear.

Not sure I agree with that 100%, my car ran faster "better ET" banging off the limiter with 4.10's than powering thru with 3.73's... Just sayin

and I find it hard to believe that a UGR lambo will beat anything on the road from a roll, theres alot of turbo bikes out there that will put out over 400 HP and I would expect one of those to slaughter about anything.. Im sure there will be some video posted of a roll race here soon of UGR lambo and a turbo busa to prove me wrong though, I just find it hard to believe a bike that can trap 190-200 cant compete with a car on a hwy roll

Drifte
09-26-2012, 08:28 AM
Im sure some can, I havent seen it done though. That high hp in a busa they require a lot of up keep. I have seen a built 1000rr do a decent job of keeping up, and those arent busa aerodynamic and I think he was at 220hp.

yea that happens.

my scenerio was different. I didn't want to be at 7,000+ rpms on a non-built ls1 that I was already pushing decent horsepower. And this year trap speed should be higher so I really had to either get a higher gear or shift into 5th gear. but really i was just giving sparkles an example of why the redline can relate to gearing.

Where do you get 93? Only places up here are Jim Lind which is Shell V power 93 no ethanol and Walmart/Murphy 93 which is e10.

Jappbox
09-26-2012, 05:05 PM
I use Shell V-power, it has Ethanal but after lots of research the E10 in it is fine, infact higher octane then regular 93 (like how e85 is 110ish) The only down side I found of E10 93 is a little less gas milage, from the Ethanal, thats all. and its a few blocks from my house. Now when I move ill be a few blocks from E85 but by then im sure it will be only E70 year round.

You mean a 449whp busa? like this race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuNX0JQAGZM

Now thats Tims UGR stage 3 Stick G, The new "stage 1 R" Versions make this car look slow. Make over 1600whp are Paddle shift, and are Superlageras makeing them 400lbs lighter. Trust me nothing has beaten a "R" version, Infact UGR says if something beats the R version they will race them with the brand new Stage 2 R-Version making 1900whp.

Whats the deal with choosing the Gallardo? Are those v10's just incredibly strong from the get go? Reason I ask is because stock for stock there's many comparable or even better exotics to choose from. Not hating though, I love lambo's and those v10's sound so good!

I'm guessing its the AWD.

slow ride
09-27-2012, 07:53 AM
AWD, quick shifting, decent displacement, high redline, light weight, etc. I'm sure the high redline helps make a wide powerband up top when most engines would need to shift. At this level all the pushrod guys would need to be solid roller to increase RPM to make more peak power and less torque which tends to distroy drivetrain parts. It's still amazing that the Lambo's drivetrain can withstand punishment at this level.

I've never looked into what is all done to the engines/drivetrains to keep up at this level. I'd think the blocks would be sleeved stock aluminum block or one off billet. Never been in my price range otherwise I'd know ;)

I know these things are badass but I just dont buy into this magic car thing.. 1900whp are you serious? I would not believe any chassis dyno would even be close to accurate at that level to begin with, even engine dyno's with a direct coupling to the engine have major issues with power at that level.. but anyway, the fastest lambo so far to the best of my knowledge is Heffner TT running in the 8's and still not break 170mph, but apparently some guy said the UG ones hit 170 in the 1/4.. either way those bikes can and HAVE trapped 200mph+ with 6 second passes on a street tire.

The math just doesnt add up in my head, not even close.. I love lambo's dont get me wrong, but with these claims you can officially call me a non-believer!!

The AWD part makes sense. I guess even the quickest ferraris are still RWD. But then why not the AWD porsche? Or an lfa, I think their redline is even higher. Its just silly to me that a few people have these original cars made, and everyone else just wants a copy. If I had money like that, why would I want what everyone else has? Don't get me wrong, I'm not tired of them yet, but the lack of some peoples originality is shocking.

... now I'm going back to looking at mustang and camaro parts....

its the AWD and the V10 that make them great platforms. UGR does build the motors fully prob some trick work inside the blocks and im sure new sleeves, the trans gets some work as well and thier the R cars i know have built axles and all of the bells and whishles. but they do spend a good 200+k at UGR, not up my alley great sweet cars but way out of anyones price tag.
