If the packaging was up to par, not a problem. when I was really into car audio, I saw my sub/amp boxes get thrown around pretty good. flipped end over end, dropped off the truck, dropped onto my porch etc... only ever had one issue and that was due to poor packaging. Still kind of B.S. though!

You should see the way they treat some of our packages at work! Some of the new light bars we use are pushing $5k+ and I have seen them literally slid off the back of the trucks, onto the ground from time to time.

All about the packaging is right. The box and packaging inside should be able to handle more than that even. If its worth money, pack it that way.

its just lazy and disrespectful. heavier packages just can't take tumbles like that. if your using bubble packing and the bubbles start popping, the package keeps getting more vulnerable during its transit. even packing peanuts will flatten out. I've had international packages returned that look like they've been through hell and back.

I agree with most of whats been said in here. Except you, Batwood. :cussing:lol

Throwing customer packages will eventually catch up with that guy if it hasn't already. Ever since that moron threw the computer monitor, management at both companies are pretty sensitive to this type of thing so you have to be pretty dense to be throwing stuff around. That said, that was probably wasn't even close to the hardest hit that box took on it's trip. Things get jostled sometimes when you are trying to move a couple thousand packages in just a couple hours. Also, almost everything is automated between the origin and the destination is automated and you can bet that the sorting machines aren't that gentle.

A lot of the international boxes I see are the cheapest, thinnest boxes imaginable. They are literally shoving 50#'s of shit in a box meant for 10.

These are just my observations from my experience. I also have to add that these are just my opinions and I don't speak for my employer. (Just had a meeting on "Social Media" guidelines. haha)

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the crumpled, scuffed up, ripped box with the tape barely holding it together, probably had a rough trip to you. How else are you going to get a $15 item halfway across the country in 2 days for the lowest price possible?

AutoMods

i think its the other way around, ups uses usps. but i think only on very small amount of their packages.

UPS has a somewhat new option that can save some money and they hand over that shipment to usps at some point in transit.

usps uses fedex on some international stuff

LT1Dan
09-13-2012, 07:15 PM
Usps uses FedEx and UPS to move their overnight and some international parcels. Most go through FedEx at the moment.

Both UPS and FedEx have deals with usps where FedEx/UPS get the package to the local post office then the usps delivers it to your door. They have both been around for 3 years or so if iirc.

Ours is called FedEx Smartpost.

I didn't start a political debate: I mentioned socialism, which takes away choice. I believe the "bitching" I have been reading is warranted in a couple of the cases; when stuff doesn't arrive on your doorstep, that's a fuckup of the delivery guy. If it ends up at a neighbor's place, that's on the delivery guy. When someone is too lazy to bring it to your house, that's on them. If my job were to flip burgers and I brought it to the drive up window without a wrapper, you'd bitch too. If people did their jobs correctly and someone bitched about them, I'd blame the customer for being a touchy bitch. But when the employee does something stupid, that's on them. Deal with it.

If you would just take the two cocks out of your ears and listen to what I'm trying to explain to you it might be a little more clear for you...I don't know what you do for a living, nor do I care, but in every profession there is good employees and bad. Leaving a package with a neighbor is called an indirect delivery, and if your neighbor allows it, it's perfectly ok to do with the shipper you bought the pkg from.If the driver is just doing that to do it, then yes that is wrong.. I'm not a delivery driver but I do know how the system works, so take your political socialist rant someplace else. Maybe start a political forum and be the moderator, you would be a shoe in for it.

Maybe one of those cocks in my ears is yours, since you are unable to grasp my previous statements. I also did not say anything about "indirect shipments," I said, "leaving packages at a neighbors house" which most people would expect means "accidentally or on purpose without the package owner's consent." Also, the term is "Shoo-in." Nothing I said implied that I wanted to start a political discussion, nor does it show I am the benchmark for such discussion. Are you seriously talking about socialism again? If you had half a brain you would understand that leaving packages at a neighbors house is perfectly acceptable when the shipper specifies it. If the driver does that they are supposed to leave a door tag stating that the package was left there. If the driver doesn't do that, then yes, that is not the correct delivery practice. Too bad there isn't laws to weed out idiots like yourself...

Completely missing what point??? I'm explaining how deliveries work, what is so hard to grasp about that??? I've already said if the driver isn't using the right protocol then yes, that's on them, but if they are, it has nothing to do with them or the delivery company they work for. The shipper is at fault...It's not a perfect system, just like whatever your profession is, is not either. There are good employees, and bad ones. Don't lump everyone in together.

Hey look! Straight from the Fedex website! Snickerlicker was telling GaryLT1 that it may be possible the driver was perfectly within the terms of service by delivering his package to his neighbor. He also pointed out that if the driver didn't follow procedure then he fucked up. And then you jumped in with an insane reference to socialism and Obama. Everyone knows that if the driver took it to the wrong house by mistake then he fucked up. But there are instances when it is warranted. I have yet to hear a good reason why a driver wouldn't knock/ring a doorbell. I don't like your rose bush out front that much that I want to come back and see it again tomorrow. If a driver were really trying to be lazy and make his day shorter he would just sign for the delivery. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS ACCEPTABLE. It is a VERY fast way to end up without a job and only a moron would do it.

I just find it really hard to believe that they wouldn't knock if they needed a sig. I'm sure that there are some drivers that are lazy assholes that don't and I don't know why. But every driver I've rode with knocks or rings the bell. No one wants to go back twice. Do I believe you didn't hear him? Of course. But I've stood at open doors, rang the bell, and watched people not even flinch sitting on the couch. I can hear the bell is working because the door is open so I end up having to yell inside to get their attention.

IDK why either, but I know our UPS guy doesn't knock or use the doorbell for some reason? I guess he probably assumes no one is home, but often times someone is home at the time they come by. We always get a note on the glass.

I can live with that. YESTERDAY: USPS broke my mail box on monday. Yesterday I got a "final notice for repair" which was also my first notice. Somehow he had broken the mailbox door hing clean off, and caused the door to crack in two at the seam. I zip tied everything back together, but the "final notice" for the mail box he broke ticked me off. He is a dick...met him several times.[/QUOTE]

Sounds like one.of the not quite as good employees!!!!!!! I can believe this, just sucks cause of all the people that make shit up. I had a guy call in and say I broke his mailbox. The funny thing was my supervisor was actually riding with me the day they said it happened and had to call bs on the customer!! Most of us really do try to keep our customers happy because we do enjoy our job

Im sure it'd be a waste. What can I say; I live the zip tied lifestyle.

Not a complete waste...I had a bitch that delivered my USPS mail that would return it if I didn't get it out of the box every day....and then she'd wait until a day that I did get my mail and start returning it as "I no longer live at that address" and petty passive aggressive shit like that...I just restarted my mail 2 or 3 times hoping she'd knock it off....then I heard through my mail lady at work that my home mail lady was talking shit about me at the USPS on Wiley. Needless to say, I went to her boss, let them know what was going on....he checked into it...she no longer works there. New mail dude at home? Cool as hell.

Don't have anything intelligent to add? You're a pretty good troll. You really got me good. :hail:

I wasn't talking to you, but if the shoe fits...since you took the time to reply to it, you obviously thought it was about you. And if you can come up with some more "intelligent" responses than mine (IE actually original) be my guest. Otherwise, you might as well quit while you're behind, because I haven't cracked a smile this whole thread of responses.
