Local info:
Shawano is no fancy town, there is little to nothing there. For those not familiar feel free to ask any questions.

Lodging:
For those who will be spending the night at a hotel there are a few options. Pending on if many people will be rooming I will setup a hotel rate at a few places, so let us know via email. Some of the choices are as follows:

Kiryat Hotel
201 Airport Road
Shawano, WI 54166
Phone: (715) 526-9595
Comments: Great breakfast, Wisconsin style. The people there are a bit weird. They tolerate our bullshit, but will charge you for vandalism, even if its not you... Across from the bowling alley/bar. Hosted, possibly still hosts sex parties. Plenty of parking.

Settle Inn & Suites
104 Airport Road
Shawano, WI
Phone: 715-526-2044
Comments: Simple, small, has a pool, doesn't host sex parties, so slightly cleaner than the first one. Walking distance of bar. Limited parking.

AmericInn of Shawano, WI
1330 East Green Bay Street
Shawano, WI
Phone: (715) 524-5111
Comments: I think it's owned by the people at Kiryat, gravel lot good for trailers.

Food:
There are a few restaurants around town. Typical fast food joints, and a few pretty good places you've never heard of.

On track amenities, USAIR allows propane grills, there is NO CHARCOAL grills allowed in the pit area. There are two propane grills provided by the track that are free to use"

Some members of the forum have expressed interest in drifting so I am going to start keeping this updated with the events that are around here. Come give it a try. Its fun.

Well, that will be my first week back to work in almost 4 months, and normally I have to work every saturday because its the busiest day of the week. and my boss/ other employees would get pissed if i decided not to work. I work at fareway in independence.

are you looking for new ones or what? Garrett is popular, as well as greddy and turbonetics. guess it all depends on what youre looking for/price range.

enjukuracing.com is a pretty good online store based out of florida. found some decent priced turbos there:

Looking for a straight replacement for mine right now, so an s13 sr20 t25. Don't want to drop a whole lot of money (probably 300 or less, so I'm basically looking at a good used one or a rebuilt one) to get me by until I can pick up a good gt28 or something.

the supply for sr20 used stock turbos is pretty high, just haven't had a chance to look for one yet. I'll probably contact you in the future about getting a good gt28, but like I said I'm not looking to spend that kind of money at the moment, just something to get me by.

I run a larger ISIS turbo Chase. It's holding up great. I checked the other weekend when I got home and it had no more play in it than when I first bought it.

I fixed the issues my car was having too, for whatever reason my air filter was flooding my car out... :/

I am intending on ordering that replacement t25 from isis as its got numbers as high as 275 on only 12 psi. I'll probably run that until it breaks or until I save enough money to invest in a good reliable turbo, probably the disco or possibly a bit larger. I have everything else to go big turbo ready just not the $$$. So I should definitely make it to this DD if I get my old turbo pulled quick enough.

I'm cutting it close on making it. I just bought a truck and I need to pick a trailer up. So I will see how funds look, but its getting close.

hey chase.. how was the event? Do you plan to go to DD41 or 42. Think I'm gana try to make it to at least 42

Chase

It was a blast. Weather turned out to be perfect. I only had one real break down which I took care of asap. A lack of drivers left plenty of track time. I'd like to do DD41 and 42, but I might be skipping 41 to get some money saved up. I'm out of tires :(.

I'll get some pictures posted once the media crew starts posting them.

Im angry I couldnt make this one. I'll be pushing it for 41 depending on how soon my new turbo comes in and how quickly I can get it installed. Also depends if my harnesses will pass tech or if I have to make a harness bar.

Yeah depending what day it is. Saturday events I leave friday afternoon. Sunday events saturday morning. I always try to stay the night after the event, drift days our exhausting.

I take 151 out from cedar rapids basically the whole way. Where is independence relative to 151?

ills13
07-08-2012, 09:26 PM
alright so usually stay 2 nights? you do any partying or anything after the events? the easiest way for me to get to 151 would be for me to meet you in dubuque, otherwise i'd be back tracking

Yeah there's a bar/bowling ally across from the hotel. Or on rare occasions the local strip club (i've not dared go myself yet).

I prefer going to bed early and sober the night before, and then a few beers after the event and to bed early. But this weekend for example after the event we got super wasted and slept in and drove home hungover...

Everyone else though, drinks as much as they can whenever possible.
