I came out of the closet errr I mean bought a mustang... well, same thing.

Its a fairly stock engine, but has a lot of suspension work. Its extremely fun in the corners.

85 or 86? My favorite years, only negative is the 7.5" rear.

Clean fox. I recognize that car, if I am mistaken the last owner I know of sold it to get a 2011 or 2012 Mustang.

Most Slomaro guys finally see the light at some point, and switch to a Mustang, it happened to me years ago. Nice looking Stang!

Domestic Disturbance
05-30-2012, 11:26 AM
Its efi. Has a cobra intake and exhaust as far as performance mods go. Would a 7.5 be why it has 2.73 gears? Every shift falls out of the powerband haha.

And snicker, it took buying a mustang to finally have ttops to let my mullet fly!

If its an 86 it has an 8.8 rear, with 2.73 or 3.08 gears. Put a set of gears in it ASAP!!! Or convert it to a 5 speed which is easy to do.

If its an original GT its an 8.8. 2.73s or optional 3.08 iirc

Right, I forgot the 86 was the first year for the 8.8, I thought 87 was. Shitty ass E6 heads unless they've been traded out for E7's or GT40P's. Second year of the roller cam though so that's a plus.

So Kitch, what's in the plans for it?

Always have wanted one, specifically because I have a inner mullet and the t-tops win me over.

It is a 5 speed. Probably just do a few cheap things here and there. Subframe connectors, gears, eventually headers. Down the line maybe a more stout engine but for now it runs, looks good, and is fun which is all I really need right now. I'd like to try auto cross in it.

LS1 swapped Fox?

Probably the only way it will be faster than the LT1:

Love the 4 eyes. Had an 86 vert and a 96 GT after my first Formula. Went back to the F bodys. Don't worry. Once all the squeaks, rattles, and getting dusted by stock Chevys gets under your skin enough, you'll come back

I love the idea of an LS swap but its doubtful. Squeeks is an understatement though. The hard suspension and bushings doesn't help, but wow. Only way to fix that is..... louder exhaust. Yes definitely louder exhaust.

I also love all the questionable strange noises coming from the t5. It drives great, shifts smooth, but it makes my old t56 seem refined. Makes me really want to drive a toploader or muncie car someday.

i absolutely love driving the muncie cars ... the shifter feel is like nothing else i have ever driven. its like you ripped the terminators arm off and used it as your shifter and linkage. shifts are more cachunk than click. good luck with the project

Few more pics. Cleaned it up some and put the tach for my camaro in it. The white color looks great, but I couldn't see anything else past it while driving at night. These LED auto meters are bright!

nice, appreciate the factory 8.8 rear end as I have a couple grand invested into the mount kit, driveshaft, etc to custom fit an 8.8 into my rx7. And that is just the DIY kit. lot of labor and welding required on top of that.

swap a cheap 5.3 liter aluminum ls motor like the l33 in there. or an iron ls block.

Ya I had a lot of money dumped into the 12 bolt in the SS too. Its nice not having to worry about it.

Need to get a speedo soon, and then mount that, the tach, and my sport comp 2's into the factory dash. The factory gauges are so dim and tiny its silly, plus white face is gay. Just modernize the inside some. Thise elite tach is pretty sweet. I like how it is the shift light. Just need the auto meter led allumination controller so I can turn it back to white and still see the road.

Demo of the gauges

the tach changing color won't give you near the warning that a conventional shift light does, not as bright, especially during the day. Still better than no warning at all though. I run the glowshift elite series which has some similar functionality, however probably much cheaper, maybe lower quality too , not sure but they work fine for me.

I have 4 of the glowshift gauges that I tried because I deal them, wish I wouldn't went with a racepak dash though if your buying many gauges, but thats even more money.

I disagree slightly. its still very clear. White to yellow to red is clear, although I need to play with where they're set still. Just isn't a beam of light I guess. As for racepacks those are sick, but not for every car. That'd look out of place in my car. They few glowshifts I've seen looked pretty sloppy and cheap. Personally I'm picky about that kind of stuff though. I feel certain gauges show a higher quality and go with certain cars. Autometer in domestics is just'right'. Defi is supra and skylines is 'right'.

Glowshift has stepped up, they are much nicer than they once were. However to compare them to the above video display is two different ball fields.
They seem pretty accurate also, very close numbers from the gauges to the standalone.

Kind of at a stand still at the moment. Waiting to find and purchase heads, then find out if these headers will work (highly unlikely) on the p's. Also considering a custom grind cam by Ed Curtis possibly, again waiting to see on everything else. Otherwise still aiming to do a gt40p/tfs1 setup.

Also thanks to Bowtiebuba for the help on this engine.

Mass Air beats out Speed Density any day of the week. As far as headers on GT40p's I've heard the FRPP headers for normal heads fit fine. Just get boots for the wires and all will be just fine.

I read quite a few different headers will work, but nowhere did I see that any equal lengths do. I don't even know the brand that these are. Look familiar to anyone? Yes Ryan I sand blasted them, which is just another way equal lengths are a PITA.

I've been looking around at better head options but I honestly don't know what else there is. 6-800 is really the most I want to spend. I saw that some ed curtis grinds had done pretty well with the p's, but I agree custom cam and cheap heads is a weird combo. I'm used to ls1 land where all heads are good

If you are really going to spend $600-800 that will get you a nice used set of aluminum heads, be it Gt40x, Edelbrock 6037's, or even twisted wedge heads if you really look closely. Some of them will be completely rebuilt too.
