Watched that a few hours ago. It was a great short film put together to show the heart of the drifting community. Editing and shots were great as well.

Let's do it. I mean, I don't have much done to my car but I'd still love to beat it around a track or something.

You don't need much. Next event is labor day weekend (next weekend). Its in wisconsin.

2 days (drive both of just 1). 9 to 9 saturday 9 to 5 sunday.

Can't expect to much driving locally given the lack of places to drive, but we can at least get more people invovled and have a better community around here that's active in the sport (CONVOYS!).

And if you've never driven before and are worried about looking dumb, dont. Not everyone there is a super star and plenty of people are willing to get in and coach or even drive your car.

Nice. I have a wedding that weekend so wont work for me. But I am interested. But I usually work every saturday. Didnt u guys have a couple events at hawkeye downs a couple years back? what about some local cart tracks in the area?

Hawkeye downs is still a go I believe. We just need to contact them, but we have all been pretty busy getting to the ClubFR events.

I haven't contacted any local kart tracks myself, but I'm told its not going to happen. I can only think of one though and thats marshalltown?

We should try to get a hold of downs.. but guess thats up to you guys. as long as its arouund mid june i would try to make it out. i found a track in Delmar, which is less than an hour and a half from cedar rapids. check out the map, looks pretty legit.

I think another guy in town has talked to them and they were opposed to it because of what we might do to the grass surrounding the course. They don't want karts flipping. And I'll make a post on here if we do anything at hawkeye downs soon. Try to give as much notice as possible.

Yea Chase let me know if theres anything coming up soon. Car goes into surgery this weekend for brakes and a few other things. Also looking for a different T25 as my is fucked I believe. Other than that I should be ready for events soon. Also let me know when another up at USAir is going on. I hope to go to one this summer finally, just don't want to drive there by myself.

It's cheap, it's close. Seems to be aimed towards learning but there is aparantly plenty of room for more experienced drivers.

Damn.. I dont think im going to be able to make that. I doubt ill be able to drive by then. I had surgery, and the day i should be able to start walking again is june 1 but doubt ill be strong enough to use a clutch. Thanks for posting this though. Please keep me updated, and also I'll try to check jdm chi forum more often... are you guys planning on getting a group together to go to this?

I'm not sure if i'll be going to that event I just posted. With a big event just this next weekend, I might skip that Drift 101 and wait for USAIR or another track to come up. I'm burning through funds fast.

We always have a few guys driving up together though. I'll start making a new event thread for all the drift events when they are posted.

Yeah, I know what u mean. Disability checks are kicking my ass lol. So do you drive your car to all the events or do you trailer it?

I've been driving it but only because I cant afford to rent a trailer, and I don't have a truck.

I'm trying to rent a trailer for this weekend but Im not sure if its in the cards.

There is tons of potential for the drift community to expand around here its been slowly growing the past couple years. As long as every ones cars stay running. i love driving at hawkeye downs as its super close but it does develop some bad habbits at least with my driving thats why a couple go cart tracks would be great for technical drifting. videos like the Keep Drifting Fun video really gives people the true drifting scene not just 200k dollar fully built drift cars. its a close community unlike alot of other motorsports for the most part everyone is motivating each other and helping in anyway possible so hopefully this group continues to grow!

No Im not going this weekend. I spent to much getting to NSB. That Drift 101 is already full too, it had a 20 driver cap Its unfortunate there arent more tracks around, but luckily USAIR is about as good as it gets.


If you can make it next month I recommend it. And don't be shy if you haven't driven before, everyones willing to give you tips.
