Have they discovered independent rear suspension for these yet?

^ no you would have to buy a used 03-04 Cobra to get that, you know the cars that were being built while the Camaro's were no longer being produced....

I don't claim to be a Chevy or a Ford guy so it doesn't really matter much to me. But regardless of who made what when, getting 662hp to the ground through two tires that can't move independently from one another is kind of a waste.

Oh, that car that took Ford 10 years of getting stomped by Chevy to finally get their shit together?

Yep, that's the car. Derived from the same car that regularly shit stomped your mullet t-topped 3rd gen F-body's in the mid 80's-early 90's....

Yep all those solid axle drag racers have a hell of a time hooking up big power.....

Hmmm, must have missed that then. Phish can attest, I never seen an 03 Cobra's tail lights when I was street racing. Many tried, none succeeded. I just think it's funny it took a completely new OHC engine and a blower to do the exact same thing that Chevrolet was doing with 60 year old pushrod technology.

Sparkles= street baller. Killer of all 03-04 Cobra's. Only one question though, did the Cobra's know they were racing???? lol! And last time I checked GM's highest HP car is supercharged just like the Ford's.. They must have figured if you can't beat them join them..

Someone should notify Formula 1 that they are using outdated technology and the drag racers figured out the best way to deliver the power to the ground...

I thought the premise of the Mustang was to be a pony car, looks like the nearly 2 ton curb weight was reluctant to go around corners so straight line is best to stick to.

Yea every month Car&Driver, Motor Trend, and Road&Track magazine compare new vehicles to F1 cars because they are so similar to each other... Oh, and Obvious troll is obvious!

You completely missed my point. I know that the top fuel rails use solid rear axles because that's whats best for drag racing. When you want to go around corners and get as much mechanical traction as possible, you go with independent rear suspension, hence the F1 comment.

Being new to the forum and not afraid to discuss something doesn't make me a troll.

I'm curious as to why you think a GT500 handles so badly?? The last couple years it has pulled 1.0g on the skid pad....Don't knock it until you tried it. I have a feeling it will use that 662 HP just fine, many suspension improvements in the 2011 up GT500's, even more so with the 2013... Read up on it.

I don't claim to know too much, but I think an IRS that can handle 662hp would cost Ford a lot more. The newer mustangs are out handling plenty of cars out there with the solid axle. These cars are animals with stock tires even!

I love how you wanna compare apples to oranges. It's turdriffic! My previous statement still stands true. It took a completely new OHC, supercharged motor to just stay even with Chevy's antiquated "caveman" technology all you Ford fanbois like you love to bring up when comparing cars.

WOW, Chevy's 1st year of putting a blower on the Camaro, when the Mustang has been at it for 10 years, and you guys laugh at the results. What's that again? First year for Chevrolet putting a blower on their Camaro nets 550hp+ with old valve train tech vs Ford's mind blowing 390hp with 3 more camshafts and 16 more valves?

See what I did there? Compared 2 completely different things as if they were the same with biased results. The fact is there's always something better any given year. Ford comes out with the Boss 302, 444hp. Chevy comes out with the ZL1, 580hp, Ford comes out with the GT500, 662hp, Chevy STILL has the ZR1 that would put a dirty cock slapping on anything that Ford has currently.

And as far as my 03 encounters, you wouldn't believe anything I told you anyway beings how your blinded by the blue oval. Who knows, maybe Bosnians can't drive their own cars very decent while running down people at a stoplight to race.

04-27-2012, 01:43 PM
Not blinded by the blue oval, just not believing your bullshit....And you must have forgotten that GT500's have been putting out 500HP since 2007, when the Camaro was were??? The last few years it has been 550HP. Oh and you forgot to add you are comparing a GM car that uses a 6.2L to make 580 hp, where as the 10 year old 03-04 Cobra's were 4.6L, little difference in displacement I'd say. At the very least fast forward a few years to present day and compare it to the 5.4L GT500. Don't be mad though, if I were a GM fanboy like you I'd be pissed too that a Ford makes more HP then even the top of the line ZR1 Vette does.

No, you are right. Just slightly tweaking an ancient design is so ballsy. Screw innovation, just keep robbing parts off of different cars and only make the corvette division do all the work, then trickle it down into other cars 10 years later.

No just use the GM handbook. Add a supercharger, a "special" RPO code name, add weight and an IRS. Instant super badass.

Hey it's been working for them so far! If they can get a 4100lb camaro around a track better than a new boss that weighs 500lbs less, that's doing pretty well. I will be interested to see what the new shelby can do against it.

i wish Chrysler would build a car that was actually in line with the Camaro and Mustang; not a slightly scaled down charger at almost the curb weight. bugh.

I read they were killing the Challenger for the Cuda but it will likely be under the SRT brand. Supposed to be lighter and more in line with the Stang and Camaro.
