View Full Version : Dyno Day Saturday... any HP guesses?

I'm planning on going to the dyno on Saturday with the Rustang.
She finally appears to be (mostly) problem free.

Made 454whp@5200rpm and 497tq at 3000rpm last year. Belt started coming off due to a bent alternator pulley, so we shut down early.

Mods:
Stage 4 Ported blower (stock upper pulley and... ummm... whatever lower pulley adds up to 16psi.)
Accufab single blade throttle body
Some sort of cold air intake.
MAFia MAF adapter
60lb injectors
Dual Ford GT pumps, upgraded line and canister filter with twin FPDMs
American Racing Longtube headers with 1 3/4 primaries and 3" collectors
3" cat-less X-pipe...reduces to 2.5" ?Magna-flo? ...?Flowmaster? "axle-back"
Fluidyne Heat Exchanger
Has a "Custom" Lund tune on an SCT handheld... I have a little room to play with AFR and timing.

Conservative tune... still running a little rich. (mid-low 11s AFR)
I'll probably run a little heavy on the "race-gas" just to throw a few * of timing at it for pure # purposes. (Tuned for 93 pump gas...usually mixed 50/50 with 110 BLUE THUNDER!!!)

What do you think she'll make for powa?!
I have my hopes/dreams/guesses ... but I'll keep those to myself for now.

Good god, I hope you guys aren't accurate.

I guess I might as well add.... the differences from last year:
No cutouts
4psi LESS boost
All the fuel upgrades

Ricer math says less power.

I bet you clear 500. Wheres the dyno at and how much?

469hp / 511 torque

Even though your running less boost. You shouldn't loose much since you wont be making as much heat. Get the A/F in the 12.5? range coupled with less heat should put you at what I'm guessing or higher I'd hope! :cussing::biggrin:

im thinking a little more hp and 30-40ish more torque. maybe 465 and 530ft lb

If it doesn't make at least 500 you have issues.....

With a stock ls1 @ 12psi you would be at 535whp. Your ford setup @ 12psi, 480hp . :deal:

Previous owner claimed 540whp. On a dangerous setup.... Actually blew it up.

501whp/509tq.

I thought the SCT handheld had more options for timing and AFRs... but I was wrong.
I had the "Lund Tune" leaned out as far as it would go and it was still running 11.4s AFR.
Also had the timing "maxxed" out but that only allowed me 2*. (Actually that 2* of timing gained me 14whp)

I'm going to get the tune updated and probably go back.
I'd like to have it tuned in May at Black Widow, but I don't think I'll have the cash for that.

Also, last year's dyno numbers were off. I believe it was dyno'd in 3rd... gained 47whp overall with room to grow.

Bet on it.

Man I was way off... :)

Good numbers man. That's really only about 70 less than my 2.3 Whipple was making on pump gas.

Hahaha... I miss its "uniqueness."
I do love my Vette. Its dumb and slow. It fits me.

I believe the car was somewhere around 20* of timing.

You should pic up Casey's old blower now.

It was just an email tune from Lund via Lethal Performance.

Whipple is in the future, whenever I can afford it.
Probably start with a 2.9 used. Perhaps this winter.

Brian at Black Widow was saying he could "load" the dyno which would simulate the real world pull of the car on the street and it would make 5% more power?
Whats that all about? ...would the corrected #s come out higher? Seems like a trick. hahah

If you logged the tune I'm sure could email the dyno info to Lund and have him tweak it some more. A nice used 2.3 Whipple would make your car a beast.

A 2.3 is cheap enough used I would go with that for real world street driving..had one and went 3.4 wish I would have stayed with the 2.3.. nasty street blower

My 2.3 is long gone..

Super street blower but in the age of e85, it's a smidge small. The 2.9 is now about perfect.

Crazy power being made with that guy..

Basically all dyno's have a correction factor you can adjust according to weather. So yeah you can basically make them say whatever you want to. As for the different loading, I would think a more realistic load wouuld help with a accurate tune. Just remember your dyno sessions are only a tool to get a better ET, numbers really mean nothing

Thats what I thought. Tricks with numbers mean nothing. What it showed me was how the car reacts to timing and AFR. AND That even with a drop in boost of 6psi (was on 20... AEM gauge now shows MAX of 15) I can still gain 50+ HP. I'll return with cutouts, hopefully more boost, and possibly get it tuned on the dyno in-person. I think 550-ish is possible.
