I abandoned my plans to sell off all my cars and buy a 5spd CRV because I knew that'd be boring, yet I need a car when I switch colleges that'll still get good gas mileage that I'll be able to drive the 2 hours home from school here and there.
Picked up the new bubble-bitch tonight.

plans wise here's what I have so far, I've been jumping on good deals the last couple months since I'm pinching pennies but I still want a solid setup:
innovate mtxl wideband - caught this on sale for a great price

Precision 600hp rated Intercooler
I've also bought a bunch of misc things from boostedsohc and my other buddy here such as a wastegate, dumptube, map sensor, resistor box, blow off valve and a few other misc things.
Also I bought some 1000cc Precision injectors from the same guy I got the intercooler from.
The car also came with a very nice custom mandrel bent 3" exhaust on it to a vibrant straight through 3" muffler which looks very nice (not fart can) and I heard the car running at the track and it was hardly louder than stock which is perfect since I hate the sound a lot of hondas put out.
Also has a nice rear-mount battery set up and a walbro 255lph pump
With the car I picked up a couple things from the guy I got it from, gave me a damn good deal since we're friends via friends.
I didn't take pics of the stuff as they're still in the car at the shop, so I'll just post the pics he posted of them.
Fresh 1300mile z6 Block /w ARP's - new oil pump/pickup/blockguard and timing hardware.
Also bought his crank with it, and since boostedsohc donated him some weisco pistons for free and he ended up not using them - they're mine now for free as well which is pretty damn awesome since I was going to run vitaras and they are hit or miss these days with cracking.
[img]http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l146/a5hatch/DSC01159.jpg
Also bought his complete z6 head, excluding injectors which i have.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l146/a5hatch/DSC01206.jpg
What I was really happy to also pick up with everything, a fresh 1300 mile transmission with a quiafe LSD, just the LSD alone costs way more than I payed for the trans.

Goal is to keep it looking as stock as can be, I'd like to get the intercooler anodized black.
If I end up finding a clean 92-95 civic coupe shell for cheap as hell though I'll probably pick it up and swap everything over. Not a big fan of hatches but I couldn't resist this for the price, and being a CX it's light as hell no options at all. It literally didn't even come from the factory with a passenger side mirror.

I've said it before, I'm into about everything and will give everything a try once.
I'd prefer to go back to the LS though but simply out of my price range since I know it'd kill me to leave one stock + being that this will be a DD it'd be nice to get good mpg around town. My LS got around 13-15 in the city, and 27-28 on the highway with the cam haha.

Well I'm shooting for the same power boostedsohc made on his setup and it ran 11.9@115 on an open diff and ebay turbo. He only had about $2,000 into the setup and it had 25k miles on it when he went to 475whp(with better parts)
I'm going to have around $3,000 mainly because I'm setting it up a lot more solid and running on E85 until I switch to 91 when it ends up as my only car.

Well its not in the shop yet, instead its in the car port outside the shop but I went today and cleaned on it a bit since its the only thing I can really do right now.
I scrubbed the engine bay as much as I could with as few materials as I had, forgot to take a new roll of shop towels and only had about 1/3rd of a roll left - the shop also doesn't have running water yet so I only had a gallon milk jug filled with water, a spray bottle of simple green, and a standard cleaning agent for car exteriors I used to use for my LS1 car before car shows and two microfiber towels.
Did get rid of a lot of grime/road crud buildup from the engine bay - but for the most part the upper part of the engine bay and all was pretty decent already.
I did get the injectors out to send back to the guy I bought the car from since he forgot them in the head and I did too.
I used all my water pretty quick on the exterior with the only goal of getting the dustiness cleared off, really didn't wash it but I did use a ton of my few shop towels getting nasty grime off the rear bumper, looks a lot better - would like to see it washed for real.

Either way I'm excited to get started on it considering I haven't really had a project to mess with since last summer.
Though my DD on the way back from the shop pretty much grenaded its axle, was quite the interesting trip home trying to keep it straight and going on the highway 20 mins back - going to try to get that replaced tonight.

Got all the parts into the shop tonight so the car is at least cleaned out and I can start doing some work on the interior, mainly just cleaning and if I can find a good deal I'd like to put integra front seats in it since I'll be driving it a lot. I've always hated stock civic seats, back always was killing me after spending more than 30 minutes in my old blue hatch DD.

Sorry I misread your post originally, just went back over it.
With the car probably about 4,000. I'm not sure what I really payed for the shell since since I gave him a lump sum for a bunch of parts. I believe it'd end up being $900-1000 for the shell so that'd put me about 4,000 invested total.
I still need rod bearings, rods, piston rings, downpipe, MAYBE intercooler piping but I may have enough to use already, and machine shop fee's, and a headgasket. Depending if I get some deals and if my buddy can make me a downpipe It might end up under 4k total.
I also need Hondata s300, I'm not messing with chip burning for tuning. So that's another easy $500

Yeah I've been looking for a 92-95 coupe for a long time.
but I kind of jumped on it since it was owned by a guy whose friends with boostedsohc and through him with me too.
Gave me a great deal on all the parts, and even threw in a bunch of misc parts for free that I wont bother listing that'll help me out.
It is pretty much entirely rust free, but I won't pass up a clean coupe shell if I find one for a good deal.

buddy bought this thing 3-4 years ago and has been using it for a DD since, odometer works when it wants to but definitely has anywhere from 250-300k on it now.
He got a Trailblazer SS, so he sold this thing to me dirt cheap $450! now i can ditch the 1.8, I love it but a 4g37 1g is a lot harder to get parts for or more expensive than a civic
its a rusty pos, but its a tank

wasn't on purpose. When he bought it the guy he bought it from had primered it to paint it but sold it before he painted it, and my buddy never really cared enough about it to paint and it ended up rusting.
Sadly there were people at cordova last time who commented that it looked cool. Im almost considering breaking out the plastidip but then it'd be black which is also another rice fad, can't win!

Well should be finally moving my car into the shop in the next couple days. We can actually fit 3 cars in but one wont be up front as much so it was better than I just waited until my buddy got his car out.
I really don't have any pics for updating on my car, so I'll just post some of his. Last night I went with him trying to get his car on the road but he forgot a few things in town and ran into a couple other snags. He got the motor in last night but didn't finish his fuel line or get the wiring harness back in or trans since he forgot his clutch alignment tool.
It had been running fine about a month ago when he pulled it in, just wanted to clean up his engine bay and delete ABS so he basically re-did everything for the brakes excluding the actual pads/rotors/calipers.
Tonight she was on the road again. For those who saw his old car, he had the red 11 second sohc coupe at Cedar Falls the one time it went there.
Couple pictures of it:

Just realized I didn't post anything from yesterday here.
I did go during the day time to paint my side skirts (with plastdip hahaha).
Both are faded, passenger side is really bad. Well I took one half full can and one basically empty can. Go figure the top broke on the half full can and it'd just spray down the can so I only had enough for the one sideskirt in the other car.
Unfortunately the pics I took don't really show the difference that well but:

And a couple other random pictures of it I took. As you can see I got it moved out of the car port at least - really happy I was able to get it out even with how that big dumpster was put right in front of the car port, just had to get creative.

def not making a new thread for this, but since this is my "new honduh DD" thread i might as well post.
buddy bought this thing 3-4 years ago and has been using it for a DD since, odometer works when it wants to but definitely has anywhere from 250-300k on it now.
He got a Trailblazer SS, so he sold this thing to me dirt cheap $450! now i can ditch the 1.8, I love it but a 4g37 1g is a lot harder to get parts for or more expensive than a civic
its a rusty pos, but its a tank

yeah we will see. I still would REALLY hate to drive this hatch in the winter.. especially since one side rear quarter you can feel under it that it has started bubbling underneath although not visible outside at all, one winter would probably start a chain reaction.

small update
Just hoping now the machine shop will have the motor done here in another week or less.. They had already started on it the day after I got back which for them is a good thing.. usually it seems once they start it they finish it pretty quick.
Today I ordered a gasket set and my oil filter sandwich plate for my feed line and my oil pressure gauge.
Tonight me and boostedsohc went down and pushed the car into the shop, next time she comes out should be under her own power.

Just in time for driving season. Be interesting to see this thing on the road. You should mount a stock muffler and run a cutout, you would instantly get super sleeper status, I mean who takes a Honda with a stock muffler serious? It would be epic and probably shame quite a few unsuspecting people.

Honestly the muffler it has looks pretty much stock and sounds quiet as hell already. If you know civics like the back of your hand you could probably tell the tip is a bit bigger but other then that most people wont know a thing.

Here's how it sounded when Gabe(guy I bought it from) had it last fall going down the track with 375whp, quieter then all hell.

I am going for the 'sleeper' look so I'm also going to be having the front mount black.. Only thing that might give it away are my gauges since they'll all be on the a-pillar. I would run them someplace else but I'm getting my 3pillar pod for a damn good deal from boostedsohc I'll run it until I decide to set up something different.

Nothing really new yet... still waiting on the machine shop.
Dropped off my injectors to be cleaned/tested today. Also ended up going with a lame cast manifold, oh well it'll work. Hoping to get my motor this week, by wednesday would be awesome and then I could maybe even try to get it running by next weekend. The machine shop will have had it 3 weeks as of Wednesday so if they say it isn't done when I call monday I'm going to tell them I need it by Friday because I know they want to they can do it in 1-2 days.

Also got a 'virgin' p28 ecu from a guy on another forum, sent it off to be fitted and hondata s300 installed and come to find out it wont prime the fuel pump so currently attempting to repair it *crossing fingers*

Also just my full gasket kit, mostly just for things like the VC gasket / Oil Pan gasket / front seal

yeah im a bit annoyed. But I have only ever personally taken a head to them before... if you go through them a lot they prioritize you pretty much. The guy I know who helped me with my LS1 has a 3 day turn around with them for about anything.
I wasn't expecting that but I was hoping for 2 weeks to be enough so I'm going to call and try to light a fire under some asses tomorrow.
I can't get to pissed though, they do absolutely incredible work - they build all the sprint cars for the 34 raceway down here. They've built everyones motors here including boostedsohc's vitara z6 that had 25-30k miles and made 475whp and never blew up. Obviously reliability is in the tune and all as well but they get their credit.
And the price for their work is pretty cheap. For my full assembly/cleaning/hone/machine work I'll probably end up paying around $300.

figured I'd update this. went in to get my motor on day they said it'd be ready and rather then calling me they just waited to tell me when I came to pick it up that my rods need a hone and they don't have the equipment to do it...
so i said fuck it and sold the rods (for less than I bought them for since I mentioned they needed honed), and bought some brand new ones.. wont go used on rods again.
New rods got here today, taking them in tomorrow and hopefully my shit will finally be done monday or tuesday.

Also got my VC tapped for my 10AN catch can lines.
Now need to clean it up and drop it off for powder coating.

I took mine the second time to D and R engines and machines. Dave, Randy, Nick and Preston know their stuff. The first time was taken to another "reputable" Machine shop which charged more and didn't notch the block far enough for the Eagle H beams to clear. It rotated fine when it was cold and looked really close but once it warmed up and started rotating is when it got ugly. Which made the block crack on the back by the pcv box and metal shavings to come with. :/ D and R did a really good job with no issues what so ever.

Yeah our shop here is pretty decent
They're really old school and its a bunch of older guys. They know their shit but pretty sure they've had the same tools/machines since the 50's or 60's but they do good work.. hard to complain about their prices though, I'll probably only pay $300-$400 for my motor when its done
Even though they're mainly v8 guys they've done a good job on our motors so far. They did boostedsohc's vitara z6 motor that had 25k miles of 300whp on it and another maybe 2-5k miles of 475whp and still was good when it was pulled for the GSR motor. Our other buddy with his GSR in his integra they built it and so far it's been doing great. Not sure how many miles it has but it's at 27psi on a 60 trim and running great.
I have faith in them just wish they'd be a bit more devoted to my motor after telling me it'd for sure be done and then not calling me and waiting for me to come to pick it up to tell me there was an issue with my rods.
Either way I'm honestly regretting this build, wishing I would of just been smart and either got a bike / nice DD or something like a 04+ wrx. As much as I planned to DD this car I have a feeling it's not going to get driven a whole lot and I'm not going to want to drive it in the winter. Really tired of looking like a dirtball in my beater. Maybe it's just my car ADD though, I'm sure I'll feel a lot better about it all when this damn thing is finally running.
